Photographer's Note
It was so cold that politicians had their hands in their own pockets!
It was so cold that hitchhikers were holding up pictures of their thumbs!
And where do you suppose I was? I left my dog curled up on a comfy cushion at home, dropped my Nikon on the front passenger seat of my car and headed in search of subjects to experiment on. Every time I wanted to leave the car I pointed it toward the sun so that my seat would be warmer than me when I got back in.
Anyone with any sense was indoors, but the sun was bright and the sky was clear and I had a new camera -- what more can I say?
With apologies to Paul Simon:
Dee sev’nty Ess
You give us those nice bright colours
You give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world's a sunny day, oh yeah!
I got a **Nikon** camera
I love to take a photograph
So Mama, don't take my 70 S away
PP: slight levels adjustment; slight dodging of the two evergreens to bring out the greens; cropped bottom to remove most traces of the snow ploughed off the road; resized, and sharpened
Thanks for your visits, comments and suggestions

Hi Silke,
I saw that you posted a winter scene just few minutes before mine.
Even if it was very cold your camera's shutter did freezed a little bit because «Il y a dans votre photo un flou virtuel qui prouve qu'au moment de la capture celait très froid au point de ralentir la vitese de l'obturateur, mais qui donne un effet que j'aime bien».
Au revoir et à la prochaine,
Jean-Pierre

Hey Silke,
The snow looks so fresh & crisp that if i was there i wouldn't be able to resist jumping into it!.
It's quite a simple view yet very well executed.
Wonderful.
TFS.

Hi Silke,
The place looks really calm and quiet. And You have snow here. There was always snow in my place in the winter, but this year... disaster!:) No snow, no skiing! Have a nice time playing snowballs!:)

Hi Silke,
just posted a little workshop .. love the wnoderful greens and blues of the sky and trees .. wish the snow was a bit colder and whiter .. like all things I destroyed some of the things like for that ... I also cropped bit more of the burm off the bottom ..
I love how the trees sit in this vast field of snow .. my kind of emptiness : ) ... thanks for sharing it .. and STAY WARM.
take care,
John

Great photo of so familiar to me weather conditions. Landscape also looks like home... Well, maybe a pine-trees are little lower than it's usual for me. Great photo!

Hi Silke,
Anyone with any sense, eh ? For sure I'd be outdoors too, and I wonder why you left your dog at home, mine would be having great fun running in this snow, and they're not even St Bernard, just poodles... A typical winter landscape with good shining whites, considering the virgin snow I see I'd expect at least part of it to be remaining on the trees. Oh, and I'm late noticing this, congratulations Silke, wish you to bring home plenty of stunning Alsatian pics with this new camera ;-)
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves
