Photographer's Note
Richmond Green is a fabulous public park but this time of year it is pretty empty of people. This bench would normally overlook a lovely fountain, but that was drained of all water to prevent it from cracking once the water froze late last fall.
That blue sky holds the promise of spring -- but it will take a few more weeks until it arrives. Until it does, the bench will continue to patiently wait -- for you and me.
Tech: shot in RAW and converted to JPG; isolated hillside with magnetic lasso and adjusted levels for land area only

Hi Silke. This is refreshing to see. Something about both seats such as this and a single dingy floating alone has a strange appeal. The clarity and colours here are very good. I like it as has memories of various mountain walks. TFS. Murray.

Very well composed shot, Silke...the positioning and angle of the bench works wonderfully well, balancing the scene very nicely. That's some aperture setting you used!

Hi Silke
I don't know how Canadians survive such winters! There have been several snowfalls in south Korea this winter, & weeks on end of -11c temperatures. I am so glad it's finally starting to warm up! I like the graphism of the lonely bench at left. Tfs!

A nice take with this winter bench, Silke. It provides a good compositional anchor for this pleasant snowy view, and also conveys the idea of waiting for someone to have a seat during the warmer season, as suggested in your title. I think you could slightly play with curves to make the snow a wee bit "whiter". Pleasant shot though.

Superb composition, Silke. Wintry scene with a touch of light and shade, and some good post processing which you explained well. I like the note very much. I like the angle of the seat in contrast to that of the trees. Perhaps Norbert has a point about the hue of the snow, which is a little blue-ish; in fact I wonder how it would look in b/w.

Andrew

Hi Silke,
Very nice look at your wintery scene! There is a clear subject in the bench, diagonal line of the pine tree sentries, and a complementary sky. Too often these beautiful scenes are overlooked. Hope your hands stayed warm.

Sometimes, something simple makes great pictures.
Silke said : «the bench will continue to patiently wait -- for you and me»... Well this bench will be standing alone for a long long time because FORJP001 does'nt plan to visit Richmond Hill in a near future...

Hello Silke,
Nice composition with the bench in the park. Goes well with the note. It looks underexposed by 1/3-1/2 stops. Hard to tell from the monitor.
Best wishes,

Hi Silke,
A lovely winter scene. The empty bench inviting or not? I can't seem to decide.A nice composition with the trail leading round and diagonal cut.The sky a contrast to the foreground looking warmer and more inviting.Take care and I join you in your wait.

Hello Silke
The eternal wait... winter really never seems to let go.
An interesting shot, well composised and pleasant to view.
My overall impression is that the photo looks good, but I feel the photo looks somewhat dark. It might just be the monitor I'm using here...
Anyway, the use of colour and selection of WB seems to work as well. The impression from the snow is good. It has some detail, not the most but still not overexposed and that is good.
Thank you for sharing.

Hi Silke,
Beautiful look at this deserted park with such a lovely blue sky. Thank heavens for the farseighted people that planned spots like this. Wonerful moment caught here in this urban island.
