Photographer's Note
Along with the group of photos posted for the TE meeting at Vancouver, I decided to join Boots by posting a pan photo of the sailboats at the waterfront.
I have noticed that the only way to post any decent large viewing pan photo is to restrict the size of the panorama to around 2000 pixels wide. If a larger photo is posted too much detail is lost in sizing the pan just under the 400KB limit.
I was tempted to post this in black and white but found little contrast range to make this appealing. I did manage to decrease the blue tone in this photo by decreasing the saturation by 25%. At any rate I feel this photo does fair justice in showing the details at the waterfront by Stanley Park. Enjoy the view!

Hello Paul,
Beautiful shot with great details and wonderful colours. I love how the water leads us to the sailboats, the trees of Stanley Park and the clouds above1 Great composition with great quality!
Greetings,

Wow, Paul, that large version is really clean. Well done. And I like the perspective on your shot, with the boats trailing into the distance. That sky really helped us out, eh?
I didn't even notice you use a 50mm prime. Were you fighting for stop, or do you find that to be a really sharp lens? Many cinematographers like to only use prime, fixed focal length lenses, because of the increased sharpness and more aperture flexibility. The camera gets much lighter for when we are doing hand-held work, too!
Thanks for showing me what a 400k panorama CAN look like!
Cheers,
Andrew.

Hi Paul, nice pano my friend. The details are sharp and I like the touch of colour left in the sky. Take care, Don.

Nice shot Paul! The long horizontal frame is perfect for the subject, and I like th econverging lines in this, which really give the feeling if distance. It would have been great if the sun was hitting those sailboats, but we have no control over the weather. Great work!

Hello Paul -
A very nice panorama in deed. The subject matter makes this panorama work. There is a very nice proportion to the amount of sky vs amount of water and the curving shoreline enhances the image. Well done.
Thank you for sharing

Hey Paul. I too have found that that same pixel size to be about the limit for quality reasons. You still have very high image quality in your larger version. The amount of sky and water also helps the compression as well. tfs Paul.

Hi Paul,
You have much to teach in the panning technique. I like this view and you have obtained just enough colour in the sky with the sun rising to give it that extra zip. Have a joyous and happy holiday season, Paul. Blessings.

An interesting pano composition. An horizontal mood made of vertical lines !!! Funny. I like the red touch in this blue atmosphere too. Well done.
Merry Xmas.
