Photographer's Note
Oh, what a fun it is...
To be one of THEM... To be behind the counter...
To be NOT a customer but rather - to be the one who faces the customers !
Yippee...
That one meter of space between the display cooler-counter and the cutting table behind... A magic spot to be…
And, (to have even more fun) - you have to share that space with the two barrels of pickles, six boxes of cheddar cheese, four sales ladies and the angry like bloody hell manager of the meat department...
But... These little things not suppose to set you off of your desire to shoot some dumb fotkas BEHIND the counter - right ?
After all - those of you who went thru the sheer madness of photographing grass and bushes over the canals in Belgium, or trying to snap the photo of the door knobs of the cathedral door in Poland, or telephone pole ( including wires (!) in southern France - this task shouldn't be of any problem...
You just rest comfortably your left leg on the meat chopping block, firmly place your back against the microwave oven behind you and ask the most beautiful girl working in the store not to move for at least 1/4 of a second while your right arm is fitting pretty cozy on her left shoulder with your 20mm/f2.8 ( fully erected) almost touching her chin...
Tada…! It's done… Piece of cake…
Now - you have to ask the manager where about is the broom and the mop to clean the floor out of these spilled all over pickles a'la dill brine (it was pure accident… You didn't want to flip that barrel - did you?)…
Finito…
If that wasn't your kind of fun dear folks, then you don't know what a real fun is ?

The idea of fun is this: After a long day of taking pictures of bushes, you get home and find the PERFECT one. The one you know will score you 50+ points!!! You start to sweat and get light headed while processing it, that perfect bush photo will get you the crack you need: Points!!! Great POV of this regal bush! The leaves are perfectly in focus, despite the shallow DOF! You handled the light well in this situation, perfectly polarized blue sky!
Tell me you know the owner of the restaurant. And that you did not order the poutine.
Oh yes, TFS!

Every time I am amazed how you managed to get THAT close to people, without them behave un-natural (not to mention that the boss won't kick your ass out of the shop for disturbing with his workers...
VERY IMPRESSIVE! (and the note was funny but not that helpful! ;) )
I am trying to do my first steps in street photography (with a wide angle) and I find it VERY HARD to shoot people close, not too mention the distance you shoot them!
Well done on this capture, the POV of the seller and the excellent timing of the man walking away...another Polonaise classic!

hello george,
this is crazy!
i tried a few times shooting and they asked for my memory cards when they noticed. in that case, for me, getting behind the bar is totally out of question. how could you manage that?
you are genius about photography but your skills about communication with people is far better.
regards,
omer

Hi,
A most delicious shot. I just love the coloration and the superb atmosphere. You can breathe supermarket from this side of the screen.

To spojrzenie ponad padliną.
Pozdrowienia, nie dodaję przymiotnika T.
