Photographer's Note

We exited the Peter MacKinnon Building and headed northwest, following the paths across The Bowl, until reaching the Aboriginal Student Centre at 5 Campus Drive. The Gordon Oakes Red Bear Student Centre was commissioned in 2016, the work of well-known Canadian architect, Douglas Cardinal. The University of Saskatchewan numbers about 2,200 aboriginal students, approximately 11% of the total student population. The Centre features offices, lounge, computer, resource and a hospitality area. Ceremonies, connected to the earth, may be conducted in an open space above a drum that soars two storeys past a mezzanine to a chimney stack. This view is from the east.
