Photographer's Note

This is a forlorn looking woman walking down a path, which is strange because I don't think the path leads to anywhere. This was shot at Hogsback locks (1 of 11 locks in Ottawa) which is down by Moonies bay, one of Ottawa's beaches. Hogsback lock controls the water levels of the Rideau River. The water pressure is very, it can be very scary looking down into the shoots and waterfalls of Hogsback.
My teacher at Glebe H.S said he used to swim in these waters. There was actually a game, where the most popular and daring boys would jump into the currents. What would happen was the man would jump, he'd be towed and swirled by the undercurrant, but if he happened to get sucked under the lip of a rock he would remain there until the body resurfaced a few weeks later. If one survived he would probably be revered the rest of his highschool life. 3 people died so the park built a fence around the locks.
