Photographer's Note
The beach at Bir Ali taken from the top of a volcanic outcrop along the Gulf of Aden. Nothing special, just showing a side of Yemen not often photographed. Also the first photo on this site from Shabwah "state". The WS version is a zoomed out view. There is no "beach culture" out here, so the beach is deserted though the water is very swimmeable. There is a sandbar connected to an island at left, but so far I have not been able to successfully stitch digital images, so I will add that to WS as well. The walk to the top of this volcano would be suicidal in the summer months.

bon week end

Hello Tan,
Wow, amazing shot with such beautiful colours. The water looks amazing and it's so interesting that the ocean meets a desert here. Beautiful captured and it really looks like such a remote place! Great composition with beautiful details!

Hey Tan. I think my personal favorite of them all would be workshop #2 mostly because of the composition. You look to be getting the hang of this digital thing and the PP. Beautiful shot Tan.

Wow! The colours in this are amazing! You're right when you say that this side of Yemen is rarely photographed. I can't recall ever seeing a shot of this before. Well done!

Hi Tan, absolutely stunning colours, what a place, wow... But only that wouldn't make the photo, for me the composition has it, , by choosing this pov you lead our eyes all the way to the horizon.
Great job,
Luciana

Hi Tan,
The two tonal simplicity of the shot is its strength. I like the undulating sand mases, the clear water, and the rising cliffs in the distance. Superb lines and a soothing perspective. Well captured. This is not a part of the world much seen.

Hi Tan,
Beautiful shot of the sea merging with the desert. The colours are stunning creating a good contrast with the desert. The WS are nice too and give a better idea of the region. Very nice.
Take care,

Absolutely brilliant colours Tan..the combination of turquoise & blue with the sand is amazing. I like the white waves which ar lapping on the small islands. For the sheer perpective of spectacle, I would prefer the WS. Superb shots

Hi Tan, you certainly get to some unusual places, which is great for TE folks to see through your lens. Great colours in this scenery. Super clear water a delight to see. Congratulations.

Nicely composed shot from a part of the world that few TEers have seen (or will ever get to see!) Excellent sharpness and DOF, and I like the colours you have captured in this. Thanks for posting the extra WS images. They help to emphasise the isloation of this area. Your photograph of the beach 'resort' is amazing. Cheers . . . David

Selam,
Çöl ve deniz... Toprağın ve suyun rengi ne kadar şaşırtıcı, sakin, temiz... Nefis manzara. Ellerine sağlık, sevgiler.

I have viewed this photo quite a few times (and to be honest, I thought I had already commented on this photo) but here's my input. First of all, I'm planning on heading to Yemen in August, and this area is part of my itinerary. The only problem is I have no idea where in Yemen it is, I've been trying to research it. I was wondering if you could help me. How did you get here, where exactly on the coast is it? How close to Aden is it?
The colours are absolutely stunning, and a different beach feel then say the Caribbean or SE Asia.
Beautiful
