Photographer's Note
As life goes on,
Pain is felt,
Tears are cried
And miseries are put into the utmost bottom of your heart...
The truth has to be accepted,
The past cannot be altered,
But the future can,
Life goes on, live it.
But as people say this,
It is hard to let go,
As I know this myself,
The pains will not leave,
I tell myself,
Life goes on
Over and over again.
No effect.
Why is this?
When you know the truth,
When you know what to do,
It just doesn’t work,
As the saying goes
“Life goes on”
Live with it,
But me personally,
I cannot.

The white haired man clothed in black walking up the white stairs makes a great compo. I like how you can barely see his face as he climbs the curvy stairs. Great BW tones. Wondering what kind of camera, lens, etc. you used here though.
Take care,

Hi Korkut,
I love this shot, it reminds me of an Escher drawing with all the winding stairs in different directions. You have a great point of view and the man in his dark clothing contrasts well with the grey stairs. Black and white was a great chioce enhancing the mood.

We just keep climbing the stairs. What else can we do? They wind away beneath us. The curve away above us. Our hair grows whiter with each step, our light dims with each flight. Excellent composition, Korkut. And thoughts for the new year. Not rosy, but as true as the stark black and white of this image. Best, -Hugh

The combination of the swirling stairwell, assorted textures in the concrete, and even that white swirl of hair that we see, all work well in harmony here.

Sevgili Korkut,

(Mesut Bey'i zahmete sokma.

This stairway not only allows you to go up and down but also round and round and in figure of eights - so many patterns of life - I love the way the steps cut in so many different angles and the curve of the man so neatly mirroring the curvature of the stone - a deeply satisfying and artistic image from a photographer who is flying!!!

Hi Korkut,
nice curves, good POV from above... these stairs are wonderful.
Maybe the man takes too much place in the picture for my taste.

Her merdivenin hakkını vermek, her şeyi iyi yaşamak gerek:)))) FİNAL DE GÜZEL OLSUN DEĞİL Mİ?

It's really amazing how good you are my friend to see details.
Here the combination from the stairs lines and the climbing man, send to us the message you want to send.
Excellent the B/W conversion, gives something melancholic to all composition that suits very good with the words from the poem.
Very good work filaraki.
Best regards

Excellent picture Korkut,
Very courageous frame, and nothing here spoils the subject that you had in mind the Camondo stairs and a passing person only - Izzet

Superb work, Korkut... my God, I have missed out on so much... this is incredible and to me also somewhat "personal" as the man walking upstairs reminds me of my favourite, now deceased poet in Hungary, Pilinszky. The work's stark bw symbolism is poignant, the moment perfectly captured, Korkut. Into my second batch of favs.
Take care,

First of all the B&W is just great here. Each stair has a full range of tones and contrast. Compositionally this is very interesting. The unique perspective of looking straight down on this man gives a strange feeling. The curving staircases fill the frame very artistically. His black clothes make him stand out too.
Life goes on. We must keep climbing until we reach the top.

you do have an excellent eye for looking at patterns & your way of composing is worthy of commendations...
I liked your sticking to the basic B&W form also
the POV & usage of top angle created magic on the canvas :)
well done

Hi Korkut,
this is a magic shot! The stairs architecture is surprising like in a MC Escher painting. The human presence adds a misteryous mood. Perfect composition and POV, good B/W choice and contrast.
Well done!

Hi Korkut. Great point of view! I like the way you combine all the geometric lines of the stairs with the silhouette of the guy. Excellent crop and very good choice for B&W. Regards, Yvonne

Bonjour Korkut,
Best regards.
Daniel.

If there was a collection to be made of best shots on TE ever, my suggestion would be to include this one...especially with this title, you do know how to make your images complete by giving them a meaning. I don't know if you had the chance to 'meet' online the work of a Portuguese photographer (an amateur), Rui Palha? I admire his B&W photos, and this image instantly reminded me of him...trust me, that's the biggest complement I could ever give to anyone!
warm regards

Hi Korkut, this is a very evocative shot of one of my favourite parts of Istanbul. Perhaps you know this, but Henri Cartier-Bresson's 1938 photo of this same staircase was used as the Penguin cover for Albert Camus' novel "The Outsider". Your shot captures something of that same quality. Great POV (taken from the window of the pharmacy above this place?)

hello Korkut,
this shot is too good to pass by without leaving my 2 cents :) the Escher-esque stairs were the first to attract my attention, then the note, then the combination of the photo and the poem, and now I don't think I can write a meaningful comment. simple, but very powerful image, life does indeed goes on, up and down and in many different directions, as the stairs here. I do like that the man is climbing UP :) superb work, my compliments.
best,
Kristine

Powerful, sad, lonely looking image with matching poetry. I like the B&W for this. Strongly composed. Memorable.
