Photographer's Note
It was cloudy and drizzling rain when we went to the open air museum of Göreme passing this place along the road where fairy chimneys reflecting all the present light, spooky dooming up in the landscape.
The erosion is in a stage that makes actual housing dangerous, parts of the rock coming loose and falling down, it cost a lot to fix and stop this slow-erosion process, so those caves were abandoned by the local people and now protected by Unesco.
Ruins keeping their soul of past inhabitance.

Henk, this really seems a painted picture. The gray sky and also the foreground grass looks really untrue, almost as in a bi-dimensional image. My compliments for this beautiful effect. Ciao, Marco.

Hi Henk, when I eventually retire I hope to live in Turkey. But I don't think I can wait that long to visit the famous fairy chimneys of Cappadocia. The inclement weather makes an unusual backdrop for these amazing structures. The swathe of grass in the foreground gives a nice splash of colour. Well balanced composition. Best regards, Roberto

ih Henk,
This is a kind of subreal image. the place is an endless source of photographs, and beautiful photographs.
Too bad that someday we will not see them, if we don't do anything.
I hope I am wrong.

What an amazing landscape and a great picture.
Excellent.
Hey Bruno40. This landscape was laid down during eruption commencing millions of years ago. It's then eroded to form what you see today. I am sure that there is at least a few million years of erosion to go. You and I will be long gone by then.

Strange place, these chimneys with so particular colors and textures! The POV is magnificent, you show us a litte chaos of forms, but the beauty of the whole frame is amazing! Great shot! Thanks.

Dag Henk,

It's otherworldly and surreal, rather like a movie set, Henk. The dark sky and the weird orangish tone of the dry grass are what make this work, I'd say. The rocks almost glow as if lit by a spotlight (the movie set idea again...) Very well done. Regards, Ken.

Hello Henk,
This image seem taken out of a fantasy mvie. The houses are very unique and interesting and the rock formations truly add a lot of interest to this image. Good colours and ambiance to create this effective and almost unreal landscape. Thanks Henk :-)
