Taken from the Egyptian Spice Markets in Istanbul.

I took a few different shots of the many spices being sold, they provided some great colour and texture in the moderately lit market.

They can become a pain to walk through, you are constantly hassled to try different things, and the shopkeepers try and start friendly conversations with you in an attempt to sell you something. Add that to the fact that the markets are rife for pickpocketers and you are constantly being bumped into and it makes it quite a crazy place to try and take photos in.

Beautiful golden colors. I like the nice focus change over the signs. A good choice of f-stop, anything more and we wouldnt really see much of the man. I wonder if getting the focus on his face directly wouldnt have helped.

Hi Brendan,
Nice to see 'souvenirs' from your trip. Interesting picture, it's hard to choose what would be best DOF and focus. Maybe choosing the focal point from one of the closer spice piles?
I like the matching colour tones here,

Nicely composed - the angle of view is good showing off the spices & also the people in the background. At first I wasn't crazy about the DOF used where you have the items in the forground out of focus, but as I look at it some more I now think it's quite effective.

I like your focus here. the spices are in focus and the people are not. kind of like what you describe here...the spices are the point of the market. Markets are one of my favorite things. The colors and textures are great here, very nice feel to this market shot
