Photographer's Note
This view is taken from Sheraton Hotel in Maslak, Istanbul. Not that you think i could afford to stay there, but even when you are not a guest, there is a bar on the Roof (a bit expensive) where one can stay and have quite a view over the City.
Istanbul is the fourth largest City in the world, with around 14 Million inhabitants, inofficially it could be 18 Million. In the foreground is a part of ITÜ, Istanbul technical University and in the Background you see Levent, the Business district of Istanbul. Behind it there is Beyoglu (where Taksim square is), Galatasaray and then, after the Bosporus, the asian side of Istanbul, starting with Üsküdar.

Hi Franz,
I would have never guessed this to be Turkey!? This is really neat, it looks to be more of a futuristic city, something that I would expect to see in a movie. From this vantage point, and wide open view, it actually appears like a miniature set...I'm quite fascinated with this shot. You've helped open up the mind here, showing something different from a country much more associated with its ancient roots.
This is one of the reasons I enjoy this site, getting to see and learn about new things and places not before known or understood. Glad the rooftop has this kind of access, you've provided a fantastic view over the city and skyline. Looks like some harsh light coming in from the right, a bit over exposed there...but you also don't want the rest of the frame on the left to be too dark...all in all, it's still a nice balance. Have a good day ahead.
All the best,
Jason

Hello Franz,
I came to Istanbul the first time 43 years ago, when there were about 3 million living there and the atmosphere was still quite provincial. The city has changed tremendously since then, which this picture shows very clearly. This is an impressive view from a good POV and with fine light and colours.
Regards,
Gert
