... the moon was still there, at the horizont you see Uchisar.

The small touristy town Göreme lies sheltered in a pit as a quarry eroded by time, washing the soft volcanic ashes(tuff) away between the cone fairy chimneys like stalagmites till their umbrella of basalt stone falls and finally also to be doomed to vanish slowly.
This unique nature phenomena is protected area by Unesco.
Many people and hotels are living here still partly in these mountains, maintaining those chimneys bounded by regulations to preserve as much as possible the natural forms although a lot has been marred by new buildings against them.
Still valleys around are totally untouched, others shows traces of habitation of the Christian Community hiding here, escaping from persecutions in the 5th century, leaving wall painted churches behind carved in these soft rocks.

We got up that early to watch the famous balloons of Göreme, a touristy attraction that was promoted together with a balloonist from St-Niklaas, having the finest aeronauts of Belgium, instructing all over the world.
