Photographer's Note

I have found an interesting photosharing site. Their mission:
Join us in helping creating the world's largest and most comprehensive photographic database of the World's Heritage - those special locations that have been given special recognition by being inscribed onto the UNESCO World Heritage list.

We believe that this community based web project is a positive way to help spread the message of our shared global heritage.

We believe that if people are aware of the world's heritage then they can care for the world's heritage.

Photography, with its ability to reach across cultural, language and geographical boundaries is an ideal medium to spread this positive message.

I noticed that they have no photos of many sites that i visited. As I have already told, I was in about 230 UNESCO places. So I looked through my disks what I could post there.

I showed here similar photo from Krak de Chevaliers but it was quite a long time ago and it was viewed many times, more than other my photos.

Krak des Chevaliers is a Crusader castle in Syria and one of the most important preserved medieval castles in the world. The site was first inhabited in the 11th century by a settlement of Kurds; as a result it was known as Hisn al Akrad, meaning the "Castle of the Kurds". In 1142 it was given by Raymond II, Count of Tripoli, to the Knights Hospitaller. It remained in their possession until it fell in 1271. It became known as Crac de l'Ospital; the name Krak des Chevaliers was coined in the 19th century.
