Photographer's Note
This is an unusual view of the Persian Gulf, for all of its length from Kuwait to Oman the shoreline is flat and boring. Only at the Musandam Peninsula, near the strait of Hormuz, the mountains meet the sea. Pearls were the main source of income for the locals in the pre-oil days, of which the Gulf had plenty. Musandam peninsula is an enclave of Oman separated from the rest bythe UAE. It's very sparsely populated, a rugged place with some villages only accessible by boat. In the distance is Bukha fort (detail in workshop). These forts are found all over Oman, and are one of the country's scant cultural attractions.

Spectacular shot Tan! I like the way this shot sweeps from the close up view of the beach to the mountains in one, uninterrupted line. The mountains are great too, and I especially like the lines in the rock. Wonderful shot of this area!

Tan I have to agree with you that there is not much to see except for this wonderful scene. I love how you used the perspective of the water shoreline looking towards the castle fort. Nicely done Tan!

Stunning - it's so unusual to see this kind of landscape on Trek Earth. What were you doing here?? The detail on the rocks fading into the background is wonderful and I just want to jump into that water!

Hi Tan!! What a fantastic, strange beach. It gives a lonliness feeling, as nobody passes there, nobody swims, no umbrellas.
Colors and POV are great, thank you for sharing!!

A superb landscape with a great POV. The gradation of the sky colours, the mild waves & the stones following the wave line adds much to this shot

Hello Tan,
interesting sight when mountains meet the sea. All I have seen were cliffs meeting the sea (in France).

Hello Tan,
Wow, what an amazing photo. It gives me goosebumps! The foreground view over the beach and the water leading the eye of the viewer towards the mountains is fantastic. The different colours of the mountain sides is so beautiful and the sky above only adds to this photo. Fantastic work!

Hi Tan. Yes this being in Oman wouldn't have been my first guess. The polarizer gave you your saturated colors. You might have fun getting super low and taking the same shot. tfs Tan.

Tan, ce paysage est assez surprenant avec l'opposition de la mer et de la plage avec ces montagnes brutes et abruptes. Les couleurs sont aussi en opposition.
Belle réalisation !Jacques

Hi Tan,
You are taking us to a part of the world with which most of us are very unfamiliar. I especially like the DOF here and how the subtle tones and hues come together to form a painterly scene. The dark sky and cliffs nicely contrast with the sand. A pleasing, well composed shot with an interesting note.

Hello tan !
Sorry for my long silence, I was quite busy lately, and did not give much time to TE.
Great shot with lovely curves and mood with this magic light. The fort looks like a sand castle.... Great note as usual. The beach is really quiet.....

Hi Tan. An excellent perspective looking along the beach and up to the towering cliffs. DOF is good as the details of various strata are clearly visible in the cliff. I like the foreground which has the shells or seaweed to add interest. TFS. Murray.
