Photographer's Note
When I uploaded this photo another member was curious about having more electric thunderclouds with the dunes, so here it is. I like this one less because of the lack of shadows, but the only way I could include dark clouds was to have the sun directly at my back, and avoiding my own shadow by pointing high. I desaturated the colours somewhat, the setting sun really intensified the already naturally bright orange sand. The frame was added some weeks ago when I was experimenting with frames. Taken along the Muscat-Sur highway, by walking 15 minutes from the road.

Hi Tan! Great tones, beautifull light...
The other photo that's in the link has some unreal shadows indeed, but I also like like this one due to the color contrast between the sand and the sky.

Stunning colors in this image. The sand shape is quite sumptuous. The shadows are beautiful.
The slight vegaetation is quite elegant.
You must be the most traveled person around here.

Hi Tan. I see our shots are right next to each other in the gallery. Despite your reservations about the light I think it's beautiful and we still can detect the ridges easily. That's crazy that you desaturated this. Nice one Tan!

Extraordinary colours Tan...the orange hue of the sand is so much accentuated by the dark clouds. One can feel the strong wind from the small plants, being swayed to the left
Well seen & well taken

Hi Tan
Well, you got two nature elements here, a desert and a strom, and you got it named desert storm! Cool shot and awesome name.
Hey Tan , you must be in a very dangerous place to capture this awesome act of nature, huh.
Cheers and good day, Tan.

I think very simple compositions have to be perfect to work and, when they work, they are very strong. This one works very well.

Salaam Captain,
Well light, contrasts, desert graphism, dramatism and strong colors, maybe it lacks Miss Oman walking on the dune but otherwise it has all the ingredients of a punchy photo, congratulations !
Have a nice day,

Amazing scenery.
I prefer this photo to your other one as the contrasts are stronger and the colours more intense. The ripples in the sand stand out better.

Hi Tan.
This is the light which brought my eyes towards this picture. The color of the beautiful sand of Waybah dunes is just amazing under such a sky. The striations due to he wind are superb and give a nice textural aspect to the foreground.
Thanks for sharing.

Une vue du désert qui doit être assez rare. Le ciel bleu habituellement est ici dramatique. Et le contraste entre l'orange du sol et le bleu électrique du ciel est fantastique.

Hi Tan
This one certainly has a punch; I would have said it was a bit overcooked until I read that you had in fact desaturated it! Great colours, great texture and who needs a focal point when we have so much atmosphere conveyed here? The frame is inoffensive enough I suppose, though the graduated effect isn't really to my taste - it verges on the tacky side, that is just my view.

Hello,
Superbe image. Le désert est vraiment fantastique. La couleur du sable donne un contraste fabuleux avec le ciel tourmenté. Les nuages ressemblent ceux des orages. Les ombres encadrent parfaitement la partie lumineuse.
C'est très beau
Well done.

It's amazing that you had to desaturate this, Tan - the colour of the sand is so intense. Excellent contrast of the orange sand against the stormy sky, and sharpness is superb, capturing all the ripples in the sand. Cheers . . . David
