Yellow Submarine in Red Sea, a photo from Beer Sheva, Southern

Photographer's Note

Yes, there is a yellow submarine, yellow submarine, yellow submarine...!

I've decided to take this shot from my archives and post it today due to several reasons:

- there are very few photos of submarines in TE

- the famous Beatles song, as this is a real yellow submarine (it's not a toy, nor a Disneyland gadget)

- and also timing: today and tomorrow the semifinals of the Champions League take place, and my sympathies lie with the Villareal team, nicknamed the "yellow submarine" because they wear yellow colours (sorry Inter fans for reminding you)

This submarine was used for many years to take visitors to the depths of the Red Sea. The tourists were able to see the fabulous corals and fish thru special windows. It has now been transferred to somewhere in Thailand.

And you've already noticed that the Red Sea is not red at all !!

Hi Daniel.

I prefer VillaReal too for the semifinals of the Champions League. Unfortunately althoght, our F.C.Barcelona will win in the end... :P

About the picture, excellent contrast and original idea.

Hi Daniel.
For sure the Villareal-Milan final is the most suitable.
This is the first real yellow submarine I saw in my life and there are quite a few other ones.
A very fine photo, suitable for the day.
Yellow is really strikind in the sea, so i guess it's not a submarine that military uses :))
But is really a photogenic one.

This is the first time I see a real Yellow Submarine! I like the flashy colors of the submarine and of the blue Red Sea that really stand out in front of the pale, deserted beach in the back. I'm adding this photo to Norbert's theme of Photos with Titles of Songs!

The main thing it means to me is the Beatles song and it's nice to see it really exists. The blue colour of the Red Sea is astonishing.

You are absolutely right about posting this one because as you said there’s no much submarine photos on trek earth.
It’s a beautiful image and I like the contrast between the strong yellow of the submarine and the deep blue of the water.

Well done, Wonderful color contrast, the pale desert village in the background provides a nice reality check to this dream of the Beatles and their Yellow Submarine; especially since I'm old enough to have heard the song when it was new. :) I strongly agree with Birgitte's and Feather's comments.

A picture well scanned. The alignment is very good, and the colors are fantastic. We realize that neither the Red Sea is red neither this submarine is completely yellow as that of the Beatles. A good picture and an amusing note.
