Photographer's Note
A general view under an afternoon light over the Judean desert, on the way back from the Mar-Saba monastery. Middle picture location is at approx. 31.71, 35.33 on the map.
Notable is the Dead-Sea on the far side, 430m+/- bellow sea-level and (vaguely shown) the rising Moab mountains ridge in the Kingdom-of-Jordan, Madaba region on the far side, 30+km away.
Closer part on the scene it is possible to see the Kidron canyon (clearly shown on middle left side) which stretches from the city of Jerusalem crossing the desert and the Mar-Saba monastery built on its sheer cliff, than carve its way towards the Dead-Sea.
RAW, F5.6, 1/800, ISO100.

Hello Ike!
I recall crossing the Allenby Bridge into Israel then turning onto the #90 highway, so I probably went past this spot on the way to Jerusalem. I like the 's' shape of the road at left. Tfs!

Hello Ike,
Your photograph shows the arid nature of the land, grading from cream to silver. It is really well composed following the rule of thirds, whilst the snaking road makes a strong pass across the scenery.
There are many intriguing, dusty roads, zigzagging the terrain, encouraging us to investigate further.
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Hi Ike,I remember very well the Dead Sea that I visited many years ago but from the coast of Jordan, the spectacle of this almost desert expanse is familiar to me, still a great catch from this extremely rich and interesting trip. Have a nice weekend...finally in peace! Luciano

Hi Ike,
The wideness of the area is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the Judean desert. The light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Ike,
You had a good, elevated vantage point for this photo, making it look as if you had used a drone. It's a fascinating arid area, but the light reflected on the almost white ground almost hurts me eyes just looking at the photo.
Regards,
Gert

Hello Ike,
A wonderful view o this vast and empty desert area. You found a good vantage point to overlook the place and I like the shapes and textures of the gentle slopes.

Hi Ike,
Fantastic sight and it is a great feeling to realize that the famous Dead Sea is visible over there. The visibility was not optimal, but we cannot always have the conditions we would like to have. You did the best in these circumstances.
I would love to visit this place someday,
M

Hello Ike,
Several roads are visible in this desert landscape. Actually more than we would expect.
It is the main road that meanders in the foreground that illustrates the scale of the landscape.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Ike
as i've mentioned before, its not a 'pretty' view, but still very interesting and it hold my attention. I'm looking at it and i'm investigating closely the features. Deserts are fascinating places, they hold so many secrets, yet can also be turned into Mega cities like Las Vegas. thanks for this one, and the info in the note which is very helpful. cheers
Craig
