Photographer's Note
A crater within a crater, on the upper part of the picture, notable is a round yet another relatively deep area. On satellite view, zoom in - it is clearly shown on the map at 30.933, 34.988.
Can be spotted on my previous overall view of the crater (2/3 upper right corner).
Also, the black plateau (middle left) evident remnants of volcanic activity.
Extract full zoom – but that is the best I could achieve.
Converted from RAW, F9.0, 1/500, ISO100, spot.

Hello Ike,
Except for the sparse vegetation this could have been a NASA photo from Mars or the moon. A very hostile looking scenery full of hills and a crater (within a crater). You managed good sharpness with the maximum zoom.
With my photo yesterday I had forgotten to upload the part of the note with a map reference. It's there now, in case you are interested. You seem to be one of the few who cares about maps.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Ike,
I have to agree with others, this scene makes me think of places in outer space! There is little to recognise what might be called normal Earth scenery; no vegetation, no water, not the range of vibrant colours that we would normally see.
You have chosen a viewpoint to show the vastness of this area and its own particular characteristics.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Ike,
A great overview of this area. I really like the different textures and the patterns created by the shadows. Very well and clearly captured.

Hi Ike
Another interesting of the desert area. To try to improve the long zoom issues I did a workshop on the photo but the workshop link wasn't there.
cheers

Hello Ike,
This lunar like landscape looks similar to the moon's surface! Good sharpness and framing. Only the cloud shadows give it away that this is not the moon, and the small patches of greenery. Tfs!

Hello Ike,
Almost a lunar landscape, were it not for the fact that we still see some vegetation.
I've always been drawn to desert landscapes and that's the case here too.
It seems like a landscape that can go on indefinitely. Well, behind the Negev, the Sinai starts, I think.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Ike,
it is probably quite common that a volcanically active spot has multiple eruptions in nearly the same place. I remember seeing the same thing on Hawaii or Canaries.
This looks very rough as if a photo from another planet. If aliens send their spaceship here to test the hospitality of the planet they could decide that there is not much water and no life on this planet :)
Great reportage,
M
