Photographer's Note

I’m attempting to clear out my hard drive onto discs and I came across this I took last June. It is on the North Yorkshire Moors close to Goathland of the TV series “Heartbeat” fame. There are many walks around there and this is just one of them. Near-by is a waterfall called Waterark. I scrambled down the rocky path to it but there was too much foliage to get a decent shot and no stable ground to stand on.

Further on is Waterark Railway Bridge that the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway uses. There used to be a path down to the river’s edge but now it is fenced off, presumably because it is dangerous. Nevertheless I climbed through the fence and scrambled down. You can see the footbridge through the trees and the only bit of the railway bridge you can see is some bricks near the centre. The black railings mark the real path.

Not easy light as I think you can tell, so I metered for the bright part under the bridge and brightened the shadows in PP. It needed a lot of compression to get below 200kb so I reduced the dimensions a bit.
