Photographer's Note
Well in the 2 hour weather window yesterday (it stopped raining!!) went back to Skippool Creek to re-take some earlier shots that I wasn’t pleased with from the previous trip. This one of the ‘Good Hope’ I thought was rather ironic. ‘No Hope’ more like now ;) Used my newly acquired HDR program as I was shooting into the sun a bit and this side of the HMS Hopeless was in the shade and is the better angle. Another view can be seen here

That rickety old walkway looks a bit familiar, although I imagine it isn't the same one as in your previous posting from this place.
I like the weathered textures and faded colours here Mark, it's a great study of decay.
Good composition too, and the moody grey sky works well; a blue sunny sky just wouldn't have been right.
Was the HDR really necessary here? I've never tried this technique, but I thought it was for when a scene had a greater range of brightness levels than the sensor is able to record. Here the illumination seems quite uniform. Still, it seems to have worked well.
I like this one, good work.
Cheers,
Ben

Hello Mark,
Not much hope left here, but maybe at one time ;-). I like the diagonal right to left composition here and the way the boat seems to be lurching over. The tight cropping is also very appropriate here I think. Excellent defintion and colours. Very well done.

"Good HOPE" I wonder how you find these good messages in rotten enviroments, Mark. That's cool. I like how you work out the beauty of these places. Great colours and atmosphere. Great job again, Nino.

Hello Mark. A beautiful wreck, which has the best time behind itself. Good Hope is time a document. Very beautifully seen and realizes.

Hi Mark,
Very atmospheric shot from a great POV. Very sharp, textures stand out on this so well. I think that grey sky here is very appropriate, an excellent capture.

Very well done, this one! The boat is massive and really fills up the image, but its decrepitude is all over the place. The dark sky also helps convey a sense of tempest and trouble. And the color saturation is absolutely on the spot.

Hello Mark,
A fine image with high interest value!
The atmosphere enhances the impact from the wreck, with the threatning dark sky hovering above...
Good point of view, excellent details and strong colours!

Hello Mark,
Just love the color of the boat, and I am almost sure that I would have "worked "around this subject if I had the chance to spot it somewhere. You have done a good job and the gray sky makes it even prettier.

Hi,
Brilliant subject Mark, the angles are managed really well. A good use of the PP I think, it still looks pretty natural. This is a very interesting part of the country methinks. Thanks.
Dougie.

and here i particularly love your work on colours, oversaturated add a lot of aggression to that crappy boat, as if it wanted to scream "my life is not over, yet!!!"

Hello Mark
As John Constable wrote "old rotten planks, slimy posts and brickwork - I love such things. As long as I do paint I shall never cease to paint such places"
Says it all really what can I add except excellent.

Au risque de répéter certains commentaires, je dois dire que la composition de l'image est excellente. Trop de couleurs ou un ciel trop bleu aurait "tués" l'effet qui est très réussi.Également une belle convergente. Bravo, beaucoup d'audace belle photo.
