the eyes have it here. her spaced out look has me wondering what she is thinking about, and that's what this kind of photography should be about.. thanks

Hi Kajal,
Good image for the "Falling Apart" theme. The lighting is great, but wouldnt a B&W brought that feeling out better??
Another thing is that there seems to be a tilt in the overall photograph, if you notice the table edge or the poster behind, which could have been corrected.
I've done a little WS to see if I could help in any way..

Hi Kaj,
interesting scene... again I like the warm colors and atmosphere, make the image more intimate.
I would have cropped maybe a bit of the top... not sure...

I love the colors of all of these shots in falling apart. I really think that the theme is enhanced by the colors here.
good composition and excellent mood captured here.

once again, very good light, and good warm tones. i like the non-noisy sharpness. but these photos work well in a series than as individual shots.

Hi Kajal,
very nice portrait, it has a very romantic feel. Partly thats due to the nice tones and colors and partly I think its from the pose and look on her face. Theres a really nice sparkle in her eyes, obviously she is lost in thought. Beautifully managed conditions here too.

Hello Kajal,
Nice portrait. I love the tone here. Very soft and very cool! Does not look like a "soul shaker"!! Ha ha.

THis is quite an intense moment, Kajal, and it does illustrate some of the very emotions you probably wish to convey in this series. I do think that you needed a bit more space between you and the girl...she is a bit too close, or perhaps you needed a slightly wider lens setting to get a bit more space ahead of her empty gaze to emphasize the emptiness.

firstly the framing is good. the dark background along with the light falling on the girl has been nicely taken.

Hi Kaj,
I hvn't been on TE for long time (just being lazy...) and I'm quite suprised to see that you've improved a lot! IMO this is an excellent portrait. Her mood is well captured + perfect lighting. I don't agree with those two critiques about frame or tilt cuz I think your's striking and original enough. That space in front of her let us imagine what she's looking at and also balances the image well. Excellent overall lighting, in particular that on her face. Impressive work. Good job!

it is a very fine photo, well composed, very intimate atmosphere, good quality, you could fiddle with colors maybe a bit - if it was shot in especially RAW.
is she your friend or a person you dont know?

I really like this shot. It almost feels like a still from a film, particularly with the dramatic light and angle. Very well done!

Hi Kajal.
Joli cadrage et couleurs chaudes pour ce joli visage de profil.
J'aiem bien le moment, les yeux droit devant elle, la paille dans la bouche, la cigarette à la main et le tout joliment cadré.
Chouette lumière et contraste.
Bien fait

Bang on portrait...what it is! this is what is meant by nailing a shot - a strong capture, no argument, no recall. Barmaids in opposition to "wives" and "mothers" in that world of pubs - falling for the wrong men, watching others with real lives pass by like ghosts in the smoke, wondering where ne's youth went.
Good work,
Francis

I like this one. I like the light that we can see in her watery eye. I like her cigarette in her hand and the drinking straw in her mouth. I like the color, even if it seems a bit unreal. I like her loneliness, even if in a way, I don't like it a bit.

I have to admit Kaj, that with the persistence and the strength of an Indian elephant you are climbing up the stairs to the top. And the reason I'm saying that is: Your style !! No doubt in my mind - that you're carving your very own STYLE, to be recognizable right away.
Not too many of us can be proud of achieving that status.
Just place that delicate 'photography child' on the top of Indian elephant - who's gonna stop you, Kaj.

Hi Kaj
I missed a lot of your beautiful photo's the last weeks (vacation you know). For me this one is one of the most beautiful of your last series: great light, composition and very expressive photo.
Congratulations!!

Hello Kajal
i like thhe expression of this lady. well composed as well. colours are a bit yellowish - you weren't using flash. you could fix it if it was raw.

Kajal,
another great theme here. You are so perceptive. And correct. Values have dropped in our country and when I see how your (I know you say you are in between, not feeling like you belong to either) culture has had to go through a more rapid transition in England, it is so sad to see. Nothing seems for the better anymore. And now you are in India and I would like to see how you compare it to back "home".
By the way, last night on BBC1, the Holiday programme at 7 o'clock prime time was on.... Leicester!!! Belgrave Rd no less. You could have knocked me down with a feather.
Best Regards,
Mark
