Photographer's Note
Don't I hold you like you want to be held
And don't I treat you like you want
And don't I love you like you want to be loved
And you're running away
And what's your name
Like I'm in the way
Don't I hold you like you want to be held
Don't I please you like you want
And don't I love you like you want to be loved
And you're running away
Ad what's your name
Like I'm in the way
and wasting too much time
Don't I...
Don't I hold you like you want
Wheat - Don't I Hold You
Taken at 1600 ISO; still experimenting with camera, hence the blur...also just breaking away into a separate theme on couples for a while...perhaps I'll start to merge my themes...Asian couples??

Speaks volumes for me.
Speaks millions of book' pages and written lyrics to the songs. She & him - and the imagination runs wild on every possible scenario.
Extraordinary photo. Very, very difficult situation to capture. "Photography child" in action once again.

Don't count too much on the recognition of it's class.

Kajal,
A very intersting one i love the tension between the two and the great lyrics you quote in your note. I dont mind to much about the blur or the noise although in black and white that noise would look better and make this a more moodier capture.
Cheers

Hi Kaj,
I can't criticise the composition if you're shooting from the hip, (but maybe next time try a larger aperture.......:>)). If it was sharper it may lose some of the immediacy and look more of a set up.
I'm intrigued by these two and want to know their story - she has such an incredible pout yet looks lonely and lost.
I also like these creamy tones which go so well here which would be lost in B&W.
Great song which fits the image perfectly.
I didn't like this one when I first saw it full size, but it's grown on me.
Cheers

Its blurry Kaj, and I read your note. Im wondering why you shot this at f/11. Seems like a really low light situation. You need to open up the aperature in those situations. F/11 simply is too narrow. I dont know what lens you have, I suspect you can probably open up to f/3.5 or even f/2.8. Do that. Infact that is what you should be setting first. ISO is secondary, only pump it up when you need more speed at the aperature you have chosen.

You're on tye cusp of something with this one, Kaj. It is rich in potentialities but here's teh thing: either you've got to go DELIBERATELY blurred in a controlled way, wacko style, or...you need to keep things SHARP at 1600 iso. My guess is you snapped to quickly out of nervousness.
We street shooters have to be sneaky AND steady...;o)))

Ineteresting shot Kaj. What was the event, looks like you've snuck candid at a private party. I like the pose on the girl by the door.

I'm into it.
the color is good, the couple idea is right on an I love their expressions. I don't mind the shake I think it gives it a spontaneous feel.
I think that the relationship b/t the couple could be emphasized with a tighter crop on them. just a thought.
thoughts on the shake:
the 1/15 second can't be held steady anyway much less from the hip. so the shake could have been minimalized with a wider apature.
When I am hip shooting I always set it on the widest apature and the widest zoom, but if it is dark outside i set it to 1/50-1/60 shutter priorty (about the slowest you can hold still) and then try to lighten with a RAW adjustment later. All of my deep ellum series was shot like that...except no hip shots, i am trying to break my "hip" habit.
nice one

Kajal.
You have added so much here. The subject is well framed. The blurr is slight distracting. In the final view, I like these images. They speak loud.
