Photographer's Note

This is my Christmas card to you all. For anyone interested in the technical details, the only light source is the tree lights and I set the white balance to tungsten so it would not be too orange.
The tradition of Christmas trees dates back to pagan times, when they were used as part of winter celebrations. The tradition of having decorated trees indoors at Christmas is said to have begun in Germany. Christmas trees were first introduced into England in 1800 by Queen Charlotte, wife of George III. They didn’t become popular throughout Britain until after 1848, when Queen Victoria and her consort, Prince Albert of Germany, were pictured together with a Christmas tree. The photograph was published throughout the country and the tradition grew. Originally they were decorated with fruits, ribbons etc and candles! (Imagine the fire hazard). The first electric tree lights were produced in 1890.
I would like to wish a Merry Christmas to all TE members and your families. For those of you who do not celebrate Christmas, may I wish you and your families a “Happy End of December”.
