Photographer's Note
Hello Everyone,
I would like to share with you the view of this old house. I know that these old stone houses don't suit everyone but I just loved this house.
I couldn't find any details about it on the Internet and when we were there, no-one was about to ask.
It looks like an old manor house, with its rows of mullioned windows. At a time when glass could only be produced in relatively small pieces and was expensive to buy, a house like this would have relatively good light and would look expensive.
I wondered if this might be the vicarage as it was quite close to St Alkelda's Church but seemingly not!
I was curious about the far right window, on the first floor, as it was a different shape to the others.
My workshop shows the house from a different view, with the upper windows closer.
Anyway, perhaps we can just enjoy looking at it, without knowing its origins.
Thanks for your interest, Bev :-)

Hello Bev,
This house is clearly above the average of style and elegance. I wouldn't really like to live in it, but it's great for just watching. I may not have noticed the odd upper window unless you had pointed it out. Its different design is even more clearly seen in the WS. I first noticed the long rows of windows on the left side on both floors, which look out of the ordinary. You found good natural frames especially for the main photo.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Bev,
The tree is helping to frame the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the old house. The light is giving nice tints to the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Bev,
Lovely old stylish house. I remember when I was buying my house in the UK I preferred to get a new one. I thought it will require less work from me. I could not be further from truth... The newbuilt houses are rubbish. I should have got an old one instead...
I suppose I wouldn't be able to afford a really old one like this ha ha,
Very well done,
M

Hello Bev,
A pity to you, but I like your second picture as the most beautiful.
More detailed and perfect sharp.
But I say your main picture, a house without name are very well.
Stone wall and this type roof find we hundred year later yet in good condition.
This can we today not say of the modern houses, twenty year than very cost a lot.
Two excellent picture, lovely to look at, I like old style houses
Very well done, TFS.
Kindest regards,
John

What would happened if you had named it?, clearly not many members on TE would remember, Beverley, the main interest is its beauty, a typical English archi.-style, beautiful from every angle as shown on the WS.
With the naked branches during winter, added an animated object to the scene.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hello Beverley,
A beautiful old stone house and you framed it very nicely by the wall and ivy at left and the naked branches of the tree at right. The green parts stand out nicely.

Hello Beverley,
In the photo in the WS we can indeed see that not only the design of the opening for the window but also the glass itself has a different shape.
The question is why this is only the case with one window and not with all or at least with all the windows of the first floor.
It probably won't be because there was only a budget for one window :)
Does this small town have a tourist office?
The ivy and mosses that grow on the wall and facade are a good expression of the green environment in which the house stands and form a beautiful foreground. This is best shown in your main photo.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Bev,in fact no needs to know the name, the show made by this old house is enough and your 2 pics are perfect to give us the idea of ita architechture with the curious small windows,an elegant one and well preserved in its original style. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Bev, Indeed, one of the windows is different and we are curious why. Nice old house with these mullioned windows (I forgot this word). Lovely composition with this part of the stone low wall with the moss and ivy.
Best regards Malgo

Hello Bev
I wonder if the horse with no name lives in the stables at the back of the house with no name? The moss and ivy covered walls give this old house loads of atmosphere and character. Good sharpness and diffused lighting too. Tfs!

Hello Beverley, a lovely old house, full of character.
The window on the r/h/s is quite different, I would love to know why, seeming quite of character with the other straight framed windows.
Lovely sharp details. Taken in winter we get a clear view of the house with no vegetation to hide the characterful house.
Kind regards, Jean.

bev
yes, it is a beautiful rustic building in stone. I presume the original windows should be very narrow, not so numerous and wide as we can see nowadays.
here another terrible hot day, iguassy falls broke its record yesterday, 41,5 celsius.
take care

Hi Bev.
Undoubtedly a great house, for people with a good position, especially at the time of its construction, a durable stone house, with good windows with mullions and a considerable size, especially those to the left of the construction, surely halls or common areas, magnificent POV with the branches of that tree that give a good graphic, the piece of wall on the left with the ivy is another good detail.
A magnificent color, which gives the image a lot of chromatic richness.
Optimum management of lighting and sharpness, with a good perspective.
Well done. I like it.
Have a good week end.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello Beverly,
That is a song by America, isn't it? Oh, not the song is "A Horse without a Name" - close enough.
