Dartmoor Light, a photo from Devon, England

Photographer's Note

Some areas of Pew Tor on Dartmoor are covered in granite boulders interspersed with spindly trees clinging on for dear life.
Late on a winter afternoon the light can be at it`s most alluring.

Hello Les,
The winter light is magical. I love the wind-swept tree and the rock anchoring the composition to the corner. The detail on the warmly lit rocky FG and grass is superb with the BG giving a real feel for the magnificent landscape of the area.

Oh Les - That lovely twisted tree sat amongst the rocks makes a smashing FG and introduction to the wider landscape. This one is very much to my taste; good light and a beautiful, well managed landscape. Top class. Warm regards Rosemary

A wonderful panoramic view about these area.
All the big rock stones in foreground between a pleasant vegetation, cares for autumn colours.
Excellent depth and perspective picture.

Another beautifully lit landscape composition. Very well composed and with superb depth. The light falling across the foreground is quite delicious. Like the use of the rocks as a frame and to mask the setting sun. The nearby spindly tree is a definite plus. Excellent colours and top class clarity.

This one is really up my street!

A fabulous landscape photograph which owes much of its beauty to the glorious low angle warm light - as well as to the skills of the photographer, of course! Your composition not only obeys all the "rules" of composition but is most pleasing too with the lone tree making a fine focal point and holding the whole image together perfectly. Very clever of you also to "hide" the bright setting sun behind those rocks on the right and yet not to have had their shaded side in total darkness.

Gorgeous light and colours, perfect exposure, excellent processing work and exquisite details and sharpness even at it full size of 1400 pixels wide.

This one just has to go into my "favourites!

Hello Les,

The light is gorgeous!
We get a chance to contrast it against the shaded areas.
The tree, growing within the confines of the rocks, is a very special feature and its bowing branches lead succinctly towards the horizon.

A syou say , the light and the colors at their best to czptutr this beautiful english landscape . I like the compositiion with the big rock and the naked tree on the right . It would have been yet better with a little more clouds , but the sky was like that this day .

Dartmoor seems to me to be a rather windy place, That fine lonely tree looks like those found close to beaches, forever pained by the wind from the sea. The light and colours are sublime (not really photoshopped, are they?) and those boulders are fascinating.
