Photographer's Note
SAMPFORD SPINEY, in the hundred of Roborough and in the deanery of Tamerton, lies about 11 miles from Plymouth, under Dartmoor. Part of the village of Horrabridge is in this parish.
The manor belonged, in the reign of Henry III., and for some generations afterwards, to the family of Spinet, or De Spineto. In 1630 it was the property of Sir Francis Drake.
The church (St. Mary) was probably a 14th century cruciform building, enlarged to its present size in the early 16th century.
The alpacas are a more recent arrival that have happily settled into the location.

Hello Les,
What fabulous warm evening light illuminates this fine church and the lovely trees about it in their autumnal colours! The low angle of the light has also beautifully lit the field and its interesting animals.
Beautiful lighting and colours, perfect composition and exposure and, as usual, excellent sharpness and clarity.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.
P.S. Being of an obsessive nature, I'm thinking is this rather "Sampford Spiney" and not Sandford Spiney?

Hello Les,
A very appealing landscape composition with lovely warm lighting. The image has a pleasant balance to it and benefits from lovely natural tones and good sharpness. The llamas make an interesting addition to the landscape and nicely counterbalance the church.

What a light !
Regarding the composition, I would have gone with a bigger castle. It seems to be so pretty.
