Photographer's Note
This is the main shopping street in South Ealing. Just one year ago this time I lived there for more than one week in a guest house near this restaurant visible in the photo. Actually I had my breakfasts there.
Today this street can be called “desolation road”. Most of the shops have smashed windows and have been looted, many of them have been burned together with innumerable cars and some houses too. Lot of people have lost everything, their homes and their business, and some people were killed barbarously too… why?
It seems that a part of the young generation in England is incapable of finding any other way of amusing themselves but in destroying, looting and hurting innocent human beings to death. That is what these kids have said about their actions… poor country who brought up such kids!
I have been told that this restaurant you see in this photo is all broken down…
If you want to have a look of some photographs of the streets of Ealing see:

ITALIANO

Hello Donato,
An excellent photo of a place where you stayed. Thankyou for the link to the photos. I was 3 miles from the fires in Croydon that night at the hospital where and my first grandchild was being born during the violence. Fortunately 3 miles in London can make a large difference - other than the noise of many sirens all seemed O.K. in Carshalton.
Best wishes, Ann

Ciao Donato,

Ciao Donato,
very sad topic indeed. The world is going bad.
Your photo became so valuable now.
I always say that we travel not only in space but also in time. The world is changing so fast that sometimes things we capture are not the same few years later.
This seems like a pleasant peaceful street.
We have in Dublin a city quarter called Ranelagh. I pass it every day on my way to work.
Very nice light and long shadows. Great sky too.

Hi Donato,
First, it is a wonderful photo, made in such a marvelous light. Excellent composition, good sharpness. But here the note is more important. I cannot understand it either. To have fun in destroing , why? and Englishmen who seem so flegmatic.. It is tragic that this nice place is now in ruin, and so many people lost life or homes. They should be punished but how?
Thanks for sharing

Hello Donato,
The picture is remarkable with that very beautiful light but its title draws our attention to the note you have witten and which is the reason why you've posted this photo.
I can not understand how people handle their problems by destroying the property of others and even other lives. People have been killed!
Such criminal acts can never lead to any understanding for those who have caused them.
It happened in France a few years ago, it happened in the US (LA). It happens now in the UK. I fear that we can hear more of such crimes. The problem is certainly not just a British problem.
Let us hope not.
Best regards, Paul

Lovely atmosphere on that small friendly street. It's so pitty that the idiots are making everything a ruin. The future looks so bad...

Buongiorno Donato,

Hi Donato
This is different and I like it, a super evoking image and beautifully taken. A wonderful image and tragic event never to be forgotten while many more remain traumatised by the experience. Its a beautiful composition, the colours and light are great and a timeless shot. It's sad that the ways of life are on the wane. Thought your description is very well put, its something that I have never thought about in civilised world. I can spend a lot of time looking at - really good photo, cos it does a say a lot. Beautifully captured sadness. Very nice and your comments add to the thought gone into this picture. Congrats
Best regards

Hi Donato,
I really enjoy your mix of photos from London, not only photos of the attractions of the city, but also everyday environments. Who could foresee that these quarters should attract the World’s attention a year later? What happened is of course totally unacceptable. Such actions will never change anything for the better. You wish those people should have used all their energy for something constructive instead. Your photo is really great. Excellent lighting and a really fine composition, I could see how you have worked with the composition. The road sign is a perfect inclusion and the strong sunlight on the corner of the house is very attractive. Even the lamp-post is really well positioned. TFS and have a nice week!
Kind regards,
Ulf

Hi Donato
i don't know what to say to be honest...
its just such a shame why people act and behave in the manner that they do sometimes.
looking at the photos you provided in your write up, it truly does look like a lovely place.
as does in your photo with the golden sun rays.

Hello Donato,
Your note elevates this photo to a powerful photo essay. There is a limit to genius, but stupidity has no limits whatsoever. In the United States there were race riots over the past generation or two, and they appear to be returning.

Ciao Donato!
Rioting, looting, vandalism! Its become quite a buzzword in affluent countries..There are some sections of the society who are actively involved in such activities, always on the brink of it & terrorize the majority of the normal peace loving people! Its a long story about the reasons why they do it but this is not the forum for discussions!
The light here is sublime. Like how you composed with the signage prominently in the frame.
Look fwd for you pictures from your latest trip!

Ciao Donato,
It is sad to look a place that was a beautiful holiday respite and realize that it has been destroyed. I posted this picture of Corfu after I realized that a lovely olive grove had been destroyed by wildfires...how much worse to think that the destruction was deliberate.
I must admit that when I heard of riots in Greece and England, I have had empathy for the rioters. I am so angry about the total unresponsiveness of our political system. In the US, corporations and the richest pay no taxes, banks receive huge bailouts and then turn around and give huge bonuses to their CEOs, but pensions and what little medical care is available MUST be cut. People have no jobs, lose their houses, and unions are being destroyed; then pundits wonder why there is no recovery. There is no recovery because those benefiting from current policy don't spend money or provide job opportunities.
Since I don't watch television, my news comes from the New Yorker and what catches my eye on the internet. Your link led me to reconsider my POV somewhat, I read a Wikipedia article, which pretty much supported your view. Still I keep comparing reports in the general media, owned by those who lobby for more cuts to what they term 'entitlements,' to what is being reported by the independent media like Truthout, and I find little relationship between the two.

Hello Donato,
A picturesque street indeed, it is hard to understand some of the things happening these days...
An effective composition both to show the place and to convey the peaceful atmosphere back then...
The great light renders fine natural colours, and the fluffy summer clouds are eye-catching!
Greetings,
