Photographer's Note
We have been in winters grip for the last couple of weeks, with temps dropping to minus 10 overnight, this is a view over Marystowe, with a frost pocket in the foreground where the sun has yet to arrive, and offer some welcome relief before nightfall and another freeze up.
[Description(s) from The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland (1868)]
"MARYSTOW, a parish in the hundred of Lifton, county Devon, 7 miles N.W. of Tavistock. Oakhampton is its post town. The village, which is of small extent, and irregularly built, is situated near the river Lyd. The inhabitants are chiefly engaged in agriculture: There are two mines from which manganese has been procured, and a large limestone quarry. The impropriate tithes have been commuted for a rent-charge of £87, and the vicarial for £148. The living is a vicarage' with the curacy of Thrushelton annexed, in the diocese of Exeter, joint value £276. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, is a stone structure, with a tower containing six bells. The interior of-the church contains two stone stalls, an ancient font, and monuments to the Wyse family. The parochial charities produce about £219 per annum. Sydenham House, the ancient seat of the Wyse family, was erected in the early part of the 17th century, and was taken from the Royalists in 1645 by Colonel Holbourn."

Hi Leslie,
Very fine play between light and shadoes, well collected nice rural landscape scenery.
Yellow-green tone on vegetation unique as sun on low angel.
Cheers

Hello Leslie,
A fine composition of this beautiful Devonshire landscape. The point of view is well chosen looking through the shrubs and across the fence to the glorious countryside beyond. What is especially striking is the wonderful lighting that helps pick out the many shades of green and offers some interesting light and shadow play.

Hello Leslie,
This is a perfectly composed shot. The distant line of hills divides the picture into an upper third and lower two thirds. The gate and the row of fence posts beyond it lead the eye into the distance to a point about a third from the left and a lovely triangle of frosted grass makes up the foreground.
Despite the bright low light, you have managed to retain good detail in the sky, the lightest parts and the deepest shadows. The colours are excellent too.
A very pleasing picture indeed, and a fine interesting note to accompany it.
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

Jolies teintes.
My best regards.
Daniel.
