Photographer's Note
Another picture taken last Saturday at the Mediaeval Festival which was held here at Lanark racecourse.
Here, following an initial altercation, Scots troops ready themselves for battle with their invading Vikings.

Good morning John,
What I thought looking at thumbanil is; "Oh no, war erupted???" In a seconds I released the mediaeval details and wondered what is going on... :)
Amazing clarity and sharpness, very lively colors, giving the feeling of watching Middle Ages.
Have a nice day,
Burcu

Hello John,
Great catch ! The first one really looks like Brendan Gleeson in Braveheart !
Very good sharpness to let us appreciate all the details of their armour. I like the scratches on the shield. Well done ! I know that's not easy photo to take during a festival for having tried it in Dinan !!!
Have a nice day,
Marion

Hello John,
A fine sharp shot, taken at the 200mm limit of your zoom lens.
A dynamic composition too - that sword makes a strong diagonal - its portly wielder should scare the life out of the enemy.
The thinner soldier behind looks anxious and a bit vulnerable with his helmet tipped back on his head.
I like the progression in size of the shields at the left too, and their battered condition suggests they have seen many 'battles'.
The two major players stand out well from the ones in the blurred BG - Bokeh? - or blurring in PP?
Kind regards,
Peter.

hello John,
this is the best of your "Vikings" pictures. I like that we get to see the combatants faces with the big chap on the right having a particularly wild look in his eye.Well com posed with good colour and interesting textures.

Hi John,
Probably the best so far of these pictures! The colours of the shields are very fine and all these swords pointing in the same direction gives a good impression. Who won, by the way?
Greetings from Gothenburg

Great shot, John!
Which one is you?
The details are clear and beautifully recorded. For me, for such a busy scene, the dof is perfect, as is the composition.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)
