Photographer's Note

For those of you who don’t know it, there is a popular phrase in English language: “to wear the trousers” (British English) or “to wear the pants” (American English). It refers to the times when ladies were not allowed to wear the trousers (or the pants). The men were making decisions in the family. “To wear the trousers” means simply to be decision making member of the family.

The first day of our stay in Glasgow was a Saturday so during our walk through the city centre we have seen two weddings. The main photo here presents a lovely old stylish car decorated with white ribbons most likely for the couple who came to get married in the Glasgow Cathedral (in this photo). I will show you this magnificent building at least from two more angles, here just a snapshot of the façade. From this angle you cannot see much of the building but the car makes such a nice foreground for it.

The photo in the workshop presents a young couple posing at the entrance to another venue nearby. Much to my surprise the groom was wearing a traditional Scottish skirt. Hence the question in the title: Who is going to wear the trousers in this family?

Well, as it so happens, the First Minister of Scotland and Leader of the Scottish National Party, is a lady (Nicola Sturgeon). It is not uncommon these days for the ladies to be decision making not only in a relationship but also in the whole country.
