Photographer's Note
I appreciate that this is a very busy shot especially in the background but it struck me as amusing that a St George's Day parade (Patron Saint of England) was being lead by a Scottish pipe band. This was in York last Sunday at the base of Cliffords Tower for those who know the area

Hi Nigel,
Very impressive parade with a lot of musicians and spectators. I tried to show another picture in in WS .

Hey Nigel,
this is interesting, because I was at this very moment on the other side of the river Foss, walking. As the parade was moving along, I could see its tail - it must've been a mile long if not more!
I could see them walking and playing, across the river!

It seems strange to me too. We English are not very good about celebrating St George. Catalan has St George as their patron saint too and we were in Barcelona a couple of years ago on St George's day and they celebrate BIG style.
You were lucky to get the perspective view here for fear of being trodden on. I like Jean-Louis' WS. He has managed to bring more detail out of the shadows.
