Photographer's Note

Another shot taken last weekend on Saltburn beach. This shot was taken a little earlier on as I was making my way towards the pier.

Behind the pier, the Skelton Beck flows into the sea. Just before it does, it is joined by the Saltburn Beck, a sometimes orange river (iron hydroxide from the many disused iron minings in the area). The Skelton and Saltburn becks both run through some beautiful wooded valleys, and the lower end of the Skelton Beck runs through the Valley Gardens, one of the local beauty spots.

For the shot I used a nd grad filter, and tripod. I went for a small aperture for maximum DOF and focussed on the opposite side of the beck.
