Photographer's Note
The New Forest is around 2 hours south west of London, and offers a unique and untouched feeling of old England, where wild ponies still roam freely around the forest village streets.
This shot was taken at dusk, in an open space in the heart of the New Forest.
The effect of the light shining through the ponies leg hair, maine, and tail have finished nicely, as has the shadow falling forward from the pony. It's a shame about the silver reflector collar around the ponies neck; wild ponies in the forest are tagged with a metallic reflector collar around their neck, as there are no boudaries between the forest land and the roads that run through the forest - the collars make the ponies easily identifiable on the roads at night.

Nice silhouette James, but there is a big while maek across the horses neck? I like how the shadows of the horses legs radiate along the ground.

Hi James,
Great silhoette and nice idea hidding the sun giving the ray of light surrounding the horse. The highlight on the head is a little disturbing though. TFS!

Hi James!
A wonderful idea behind this picture, the silouette of the pony with the sun behind. I'm alos wondering about the sun at the neck. Was thinking that it might be such a collar they like to put on all farm animals these days in Europe. If it doesn't have an earmark, tattoo or collar, it doesn't seem to be a farm animal these days... A pity.
Greetings! Dennis
