Photographer's Note
The monument is situated on Penshaw Hill, and can be seen from miles around, Ive just come back from a trip to grandparents who live in the Houghton Le Spring area, and decided to get near to this monument to snap it (as Ive only seen it from a distance as a child)
This monument was erected in 1844, designed by John and Benjamin Green and modelled on the Theseum at Athens. It is dedicated to John George Lambton, first Earl of Durham and the first Governor of Canada.

Clear against the sky, of centered and with the path leading the eye makes a fine composition. But it should be sharper, maybe you just forgot to sharpen after resizing.

I like your composition very much here with the monument clear against the sky. It makes it very airy. Black and white also works well. I would prefer it sharper, razer sharp even, to really see the structure of teh grass and the stones.

Hi Tim,
I have this interesting monument in my TE collection too (click here to see it), but I have placed it under different county :)
I was very surprised to see it in this place first time.
Your black and white rendering gives it a feeling of an old postcard. Nice shape of the path introduces the eye to the monument.
Very well seen and captured,
M
