Photographer's Note

This was taken at Portland in Dorset. It is called Spirit of Portland as a tribute to Portland's past. The artist was Joanna Szuwalska and was unveiled August 18th 2000. This is part of the statue which depicts a stonemason and a fisherman, cut out of a single block of stone., which comes from the quarry nearby.Portland stone has been used for many public buildings in the UK including Buckingham Palace and Saint Paul's Cathedral.
