Photographer's Note
CURIOUS OR JUST NOSEY?
Another photo from our little TE meeting in Derbyshire almost exactly six years ago.
A young boy's curiosity overcomes him as he passes Buxton's Pavilion so he stops his bicycle and tries to peer through a window. But what does he see?
That afternoon there was a "tea dance" ("thé dansant") in the Pavilion for an older generation, but surely that wouldn't have interested a young boy? But there were reflections in the window from outside too - is that one of our little group with a camera on the right? Est-ce peut-être notre ami Claude?
ISO 160, 1/640 sec at f/9, focal length 70mm.
Here are the co-ordinates for this location: 53.258016, -1.918139

Hello John,
This photo is so good that I actually remember this view from an earlier photo you posted a few years ago. But looking back I notice this is not the same photo, but taken seconds before or after the other one, which also included an equally curious girl. This is also different in that we actually see more of the people inside the building, as well as the reflection of another TE member.
Kind regards,
Gert

A lovely example of 'life'. I love the way the boy is shielding his eyes so he can get a better view. What a great inspiration for a short story.

Nice observational shot. Strong composition, and I like that you can see the faces of the people inside too.
Just for information - Curious is when you are the one being nosey. Nosey is other people being curious. :-)

Hello John, fortunately for the young boy, the window is low enough for him to take a peek.
I would love to know what he thought about the dancing!
The details here are so sharp, even the fractured stone beneath the peeling paint of the window frame.
We see some reflections from the outside besides being be able to see the ‘dancers’ on the inside. One of the dancers seems to be distracted by what is going on outside!
A lovely well observed picture.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Hello John,
This was such an important bit of our photographic chances in Buxton, especially with the sunshine.
I remember it well!
What a wonderful shot it has made!
Because of his clothing (which doesn't seem to follow a particular fashion) and because of the activity that he is watching, this is such a timeless shot!
Your photograph is pin-sharp and captures the youngster in a very strong place within the frame.
He seems to have made eye contact with a male dancer, who looks quite annoyed. Could there be a better sense of drama!
His reflection and and that of Claude, give a sort of new dimension.
I think Claude is very approving of your photograph!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi John,
Lovely scene that wakes up imagination. What's on his mind? Maybe he's just a bit surprised of what's happening. Or maybe he knows somebody there. That tiny bike catches my attention too.

Hello John,
What a wonderful observation of this young boy on his small bicycle peering through the window, trying to see what's going on inside and totally unaware of the fact that you caught him in the act. The windows show a very nice mix of inside and outside. Very good colours and lighting as well.

Hello dear John, I looked at the other pictures from this TE-Meeting in Buxton six years ago. This is a delightful composition, with this small boy looking with such curiosity what happens inside. He sees the elder people dancing, we see also some reflections. On the right, our friend Claude, but I notice also the hand and the part of the camera of another photographer :). Charming picture, so bright and sharp.
Have a nice weekend

Hello John
I remember this scene well, and took a similar snap, which I may post as a companion piece to yours. A lovely, innocent little tranche de vie. Yours is superior I think, as one can see the dancers behind the glass: I was to one side - near Claude - so only caught the audience!
Kind regards
Will

Hi John
That's me, I am not part of the indoor tea dance, Mike is hidden by the window frame and taking the same scene from another PoV. Good souvenir mister paparazzi!
Take care and stay safe

Dag John,
An excellent observation captured in this beautiful photo.
The little boy certainly cannot see the reflections with his eyes close to the window and his hands shielding the light from outside. Maybe he was watching his grandfather and grandmother dance.
An honorable mention is given for the half selfie with arm and a piece of camera.
A lovely photo with a lot of humor.
Well done
Have a good week. Be careful and stay safe, Rob

Hi John.
A magnificent composition with this boy, who, riding his bicycle, tries to see what happens inside the room, the window shows a wonderful mix of the party inside, with other elements from the street, the wall gives old textures.
A fantastic photo, with beautiful natural colors, very good lighting and excellent sharpness.
Well done. I love.
Enjoy the weekend.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hi John
wonderful find here John, this is such a great grab shot, totally unannounced and unexpected, you capitalized and seized the moment before the boys attention was diverted away. Perhaps the boy was looking to see if there was a Dance partner for him. love this moment. i'm sure his mother and father would want a copy. cheers
Craig
