Photographer's Note
These are two typical chimneys of the traditional houses in the Swiss canton Ticino. The houses, the stairs, the roofs, the balconies, the chimneys - everthing is built out of granite stones from the surrounding valleys and thus the villages here seem to be grown out of the ground. The incredible weight of these granite roofs (one square meter more than a ton!) is born by beams out of sweet chestnut wood.
I took this photo in the village Mosogno, high up in Onsernone valley.

Hello Frank,
The chimneys do give this image an interesting focal point. I am attracted as much though by the green vegetation in the background. The combination and contrast of colours is very good as are the details. Good point of view Frank. Cheers :-)

Bonjour Frank ,

Hi Frank,
These chimneys will certainly not blow away in a storm, they seem to be very securely attached. You have managed to place one chimney right in the middle of the valley in the background, a very fine effect in this composition!
Kind regards

Hello Frank,
These chimneys look as if they are built to last. A very interesting composition with good tonal contrasts and a pleasing layered effect. Tones and textures are well rendered under a good light.

Hallo Frank,

Ciao
Hartmut
