Photographer's Note
This is from roughly the same location as yesterday's upload - Ayer in the Val d'Anniviers - and shows one of the raised barns, so typical of Canton Valais. Presumably, the barns are raised off the the ground to allow the free movement of air underneath and so avoiding any problems from damp.
Supporting the barns are these distinctive wooden posts, topped with a stone pressure-plate.
