Photographer's Note
In the beginning of the 1970-ies the Norrköping industrial landscape got threatened by a crises in the Swedish textile industry. Many textile factories closed and other companies moved to different parts of town.
In stead of tearing down the old and build new the Norrköping community invested to save the unique industrial landscape. Together with local construction companies they reseached how the old buildings could be used for other purposes. Today we can se the result, the industrial landscape and its buildings have been saved and new occupation has been found. Some of the buildings are being used as offices, others as concerthall or conference center. The buildings you see on this photo are both used as a museum.
On the right you see the museum of work (Arbetets Museum). In the exhibitions it documents the working conditions and its history and organises seminars regulary. The building is called “iron” after its form. The building (1917) got its 7-sided form because every bit of the available land was to be used. The Holmen company originally used it for cotton weaving.
On the left (behind the tree) you see a part of the Norrköping city museum. The building has during time been used as a textile factory, a paintshop and a party center. Since 1981 it is the site of the Norrköping city museum.
This photo is the fifth and last of a series about the preserved Norrköping industrial landscape. All photo’s in this series were taken in July 1997 and are scanned from positive slides.

Hi Harko, super composition and excellent colours / sharpness. The place looks almost too neat and clean! Nice record of an interesting place. Regards, Paul.
(PS - sorry - just seen I've run out of big green smileys. I'll try to remember tomorrow!)

Well composed view of the once industrial scene. It now looks fresh and new. The image is nicely balanced with the main building on the right balanced by the tree and chimney on the left. Interesting note.

Goede zondag,
Bert

Another nice point of view, with this very nice yellow building on the right, with excellent windows reflectiong the sky, and the left part with a samller, red building lost in the vegetation. The opening of te river leads directly to the background after passing overe the small metal bridge.
All the best,
Emmanuel
