Photographer's Note

The Cathedral of Murcia has one edge chapel, that is bigger than all of the other chapels of the Cathedral, apart of the Bell Tower you can see in the background.

Some special notice should be directed to the chain running aroung the tower. It's a great artwork, as it is completely seamless and surrounds the whole tower.
It is made out of glass, sand and wood, if I remember it right....

The story that is told is, that when they started to build the Cathedral, there was a man in rugs approaching the Count of Velez to ask him, if he would allow him to make some very special chain around his tower. The rugged man had travelled very far around only with this idea in mind that he would like to make a chain around some tower. So the Count allowed him, telling him, that if he succeeded and it really would be something so precious, he would give him as much gold as he could carry, but if not, he would have him killed.
Thus the man started his work and when finished, the admiration of something as strange and wonderful was so big, that the Count decided he could not let him make another chain like this, as it would not be unique anymore. And he had him pinched his eyes out and cut off his hands, so he would never be able to work something like this again.

Cruel story, isn't it? ;-)
