Photographer's Note
‘Olvera - Parish Church of Our Lady of the Incarnation’
The church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación in Olvera is located in the Plaza de la Iglesia, the highest square in town.
It’s a neoclassical construction that was completed in 1843.
The Plaza de la Iglesia offers a beautiful panorama of the city and the countryside.
You would think that the church is the highest building in Olvera. Yet there are even higher viewpoints, namely on top of the Moorish castle.
You would also have a beautiful view from the bell towers.
But I had no access to them, but at certain times it was possible to visit the interior of the church.
My photos were taken in the afternoon while siesta is still sacred in rural Andalucia.
So empty streets.
Sightseeing in Olvera means a lot of climbing in the streets.
I found the time appropriate as the sun was behind one of the church towers.

Hi Paul
the lighting here is terrible haha..but I guess that's kind of the point. you totally lucked out timing wise, to have the white hot sun directly behind the tower, giving it that halo effect. I really like the WS #1. good shots
cheers

Goedenavond Paul,
Geen gemakkelijke foto om te maken
Maar u bent er schitterend in geslaagd om diepte en perspectief te creëren
De bloemen en oplopende trap naar de kerk zijn mooi als foto, met een goede belichting ook.
Mooi foto werk Paul.
Groeten uit Oost-Vlaanderen,

Hello Paul,
You placed the sun neatly behind the church tower. The effect of the halo is striking and it makes me wonder how you could handle the exposure so well. I don't see any too obvious traces of heavy post-processing, so the fine light on the church façade is admirable. In fact the entire picture is well exposed. The flower pots on the white wall is a strong feature in the foreground. The WS are also good. You had to watch your step in the narrow street in #1,
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Paul, three photos from the heart of this wonderful village as far as I can see, in fact the staircase is more comfortable than the narrow streets where even the cars still pass, different perspectives but certainly the best is the main one, there is the light of God above the bell tower..ehee .. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Paul,
I like this upward POV, and the halo of the sun behind the church tower. It definitely looks like you were the only person not taking a siesta, too. :-) All the flowerpots on the wall also grab my attention, and the overall composition is very attractive. Take care!

Hello Paul, three excellent shots that give us a real 'flavour' of this town.
I particularly like your main post, the sun becoming the halo behind the church tower. The steps lead our eyes straight to the church. The wall hung pots full of flowers are very attractive and are another good feature of this scene.
Kind regards, Jean.

Bonsoir Paul,

Hello Paul,
Three picture with the typical white painted alleys and houses, Andalucia style.
The main photo show how you managed the strong backlight from the sun behind the church tower, and we get good view of the decorated corner.
Have a nice new week,
Ike

Salut Paul,
Un bon cadrage avec cet effet de perspective avec ces lignes fuyantes et superbe aussi cette lumière bien maîtrisée qui fait un presque divin halot au sommet du clocher, très bien géré, joli résultat photo.

Hi Paul
The path up to the church from town is very steep. We drove! A good photo looking up, especially with that halo effect from the sun.
cheers

Hello Paul, one must climb this wide street to reach the church. Beautiful flower pots on the white walls. It reminds me of the patios in Cordoba. Wonderful composition.

Hello Paul,
Your photographs all show us how steep the streets of Olvera can be!
I love what you have done with the main photograph, giving this religious building its very own halo! You have also been able to show the church in a glow of light. The approaching stairway is in shadow but when we meet the church .... sunlight!
Lovely!
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hi Paul,
Your exposure is just right on this tricky situation. Step leading up to the church make very strong perspective. Glimpses of sunshine on those flower pots look great.

Hi Paul,
Great series of photos here. I probably like more the one with the cars, even though they are causing disturbance, it is more like a postcard.
This main upload is spectacular though. I am really impressed with the effect. Was it taken with a phone as well? The quality seems great and it feels like you used some help in processing with HDR as well?
Excellent work,

Hello Paul,
Lovely view of this alley leading to the pretty church. Relatively good light management of the partially hidden sun.
