Photographer's Note
Hello friends and colleagues, now offer this amazing display of ancient popular Andaluci architecture, on a street in the town of Arcos de la Frontera, I hope you like it. Here are some letters about their history.
Arcos de la Frontera is a Spanish municipality in the province of Cádiz, Andalusia. It is the largest city in the county of Sierra de Cádiz and the most extensive. It is an important place for domestic tourism and local industry, and has a strategic position between the countryside and the Serrania Jerez. It also has a rich history, having been the capital of the Taifa of Arcos in the Muslim era and capital of the Duke of Arcos from 1493. Like most of the people of this province, its location has been occupied by humans since prehistoric times. Arcos, for their own geographical location has been at all times a strategic place. The name of Arx-Arcis (fortress height) comes from its Roman foundation, when the settlement appears as "coloniae Arcensium", another Roman settlement was Santiscal. During the Muslim era its name is Arkos, emerging as true prosperous and flourishing city. At the time dependent Emirate of Damascus (711-757) belonged to the "Cora" of Sidonia. He went on to become the eleventh century, in a small Taifa kingdom under the rule of Ben Jazrum king of Berber origin. In this period the enclosure of the town was walled and although there is no certainty that the brim with buildings all its land, has remained the complex web of apples, this time comes the layout of its streets, the military fortress, the wall , mills, etc. in 1255 and 1264, King Alfonso X of Castile took the city, being assigned to the Infante Don Enrique, but returned to royal hands due to its frontier character. In 1300 received the rank of council. In 1408 the king puts the city in the hands of private Ruy Lopez Davalos and award it to the Ponce de Leon in 1440, Dukes of Arcos, well into the eighteenth century, reaching its zenith between the fifteenth and seventeenth century. In the fifteenth century Hospices of Discalced Franciscans and another next to the Church of San Pedro was founded. The City Council is moved to the Plaza del Castillo. The jail is moved to a house where they later built the convent of Discalced Mercedarias. In the Plaza del Castillo and behind the alhóndiga the slaughter house stood. From the sixteenth century construction of the Convent of San Francisco (1510), the Sisters of St. John Lateran (1539), the Hospital of San Roque and San Pedro starts. Also the construction of a new slaughterhouse outside the Puerta de Jerez starts. During the eighteenth century urban expansion that exceeds the length of its Arab walls occurs. In 1706, Felipe V granted the title of Noble and Faithful. The Lisbon earthquake of 1755, changed its appearance, affecting the churches of Santa Maria, San Pedro and San Agustín, sinking the north wall of the castle, which fell to the pit and bury him, gave birth to New Street. During the eighteenth century, the city was finally develops outside the walls, when three enclaves: the neighborhood of the log, the more upscale, with residences of the bourgeoisie, Hospital San Juan de Dios, Pósito of Carlos III, Meson Duke and Church of San Miguel; San Francisco neighborhood, around the Franciscan Church of the sixteenth century, which is the Chapel of the Waters; and Lower Quarter, whose origin may be in a Moorish settlement in the current quarter Competa. In the nineteenth century, and the epidemic of yellow fever and the passage of the French, which caused damage to the Castle and Plaza, the most important to the heritage of Arcos fact is the confiscation of Mendizabal. Transformations of religious buildings are produced and offered for sale rural ecclesiastical possessions, which stopped the incipient industrial development, the transformation of industrial developers in landowners. In the twentieth century improves quality of life and tourism development occurs, being in the period from 1950 to 1970 when the largest city growth occurs. Until the early sixties a concentric ring was set. But it is from this decade, when they begin to appear new building types (blocks and detached houses, semi-detached and row) raised on new paths, which threaten both the original walled Old Town, as the first growth zone and hamlet traditional. In the XXI century has become the entrance to the Route of the White Villages and Historic-Artistic. Along with its breathtaking scenery, make prime tourist destination in the province of Cádiz, which is their main source of income.

Hi Angel
This is a great scene, this laneway would make an excellent entrance view to a mystery film, what lies beyond that door I wonder? Looking at the lower levels, there is great paintwork and color and the buildings are looked after, but up higher, the less well maintened part brings excellent texture and grit into the view. Very nice!
Cheers

Hello Angel
I've always been drawn - photographically - to back lanes rather than posh squares and piazzas, so immediately picked out this image. You've found a very beguiling and peaceful scene. Nice to see the inhabitants trying their best, with no front gardens, to beautify the street with potted plants and hanging baskets.

Bonjour Angel,

Luis.

Hola Angel,
I like the view into the characteristic alley, the upward perspective and the arrangement of the familiar picturesque details within your frame. It's very interesting that there's no sky in this view, it looks intimate and has an eerie intensity at the same time. You managed light and contrast superbly. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
Ourania

Hola Angel,
A very well positioned shot, so that you use the converging lines to great effect. You have captured some excellent textural details, especially on the road surface.
It is great to see people making such an effort to make their neighbourhood look attractive.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Angel
where is the lady in the red dress? we need a lady in a red dress...haha :)
even without the lady you still have a very pleasing and calming street/alley...the whites make it feel that what i think.
nice to see some of the walls crusting and falling apart, that adds charm and character.
lots to like here
cheers

Hola Angel
You picked up a nice niche, a hidden corner...where the flower pots hanging all round creating strong points of interest against the backdrop of the white walls. Interestingly brown and green are the only two colours in this lovely picture apart from white!
Best Regards

Ciao Angel,
A good exposure on the white highlights, with excellent sharpness and good lead in lines and diminishing linear perspective afforded by the dual sides of the narrow alley. I like the repetition of the red clay flower pots! The upward, uphill pov adds interest. The street lamp suspended from the wall adds interest. A pleasant diffused light. Tfs!

I love the quaintness of this street. It looks homely and cozy. And my eyes go to the green window and I am trying to imagine who lives there. A great shot. Congrats.
