Algunos amigos me recomendaron la visita al Real Casino de Murcia, y realmente tenían razón, es un lugar muy agradable, por su arquitectura, la elegancia de sus salones y estancias, y su atmósfera tan especial. Esta foto la tomé después de la entrada al edificio, en al Patio Árabe, y aquí podéis admirar su estilo decorativo y su riqueza de formas y texturas. Al fondo vemos uno de los pasillos con espectaculares claraboyas.
En el WORKSHOP se puede ver la fantástica claraboya que corona la bóveda del Patio Árabe.

El Real Casino de Murcia, conocido habitualmente como Casino de Murcia, es uno de los edificios más emblemáticos de la capital de la Región de Murcia (España). Se encuentra en el centro de la ciudad, en la calle Trapería, no lejos de la catedral. El edificio, cuya construcción comenzó en 1847 es una mezcla de distintas corrientes artísticas que coexistieron en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX y principios del siglo XX en España y fue declarado monumento histórico-artístico nacional en 1983, por lo que en la actualidad está considerado bien de interés cultural, con la categoría de «monumento».
El edificio es la sede de la institución del mismo nombre, que funciona como un club privado. Abierto a visitas turísticas y otros eventos, es el edificio civil más visitado de la Región de Murcia y lo visitan anualmente un promedio de 150 000 personas, de las que 25 000 son extranjeras.
Tras un periodo de creciente deterioro provocado por la crisis de la institución, el edificio ha sido profundamente restaurado entre los años 2006 y 2009. Con motivo de la finalización de las obras de restauración, el rey Juan Carlos I de España concedió al Casino de Murcia el título de Real.
La fachada de la calle Trapería, de principios del siglo XX, es de estilo ecléctico con influencias modernistas e historicistas diseñada por Pedro Cerdán. A ambos lados de la puerta principal se abren dos salas acristaladas conocidas popularmente por su aspecto como peceras.
Traspasada la puerta de entrada y un pequeño vestíbulo neobarroco se accede al Patio Árabe, con una espectacular decoración de estilo neo nazarí, obra de Manuel Castaños. La bóveda estrellada que cubre el patio es la parte más alta del edificio.
Otra dependencia visitable es la biblioteca, obra de 1913, en la que destaca su tribuna superior de maderas talladas, sustentada por ménsulas de fundición que representan flamencos, y los miles de libros en encuadernaciones antiguas.
El tocador de señoras está decorado con alegorías femeninas de la diosa Selene pintadas en el techo, mientras que el salón de té tiene un espectacular techo de escayola, totalmente recuperado tras su desplome a finales de los años 1970.
El patio denominado pompeyano es de estilo neoclásico y tiene en el centro una Venus, obra de José Planes, sobre un pedestal con episodios de la vida de Zeus.
La dependencia más notable del edificio es el salón de baile, un gran espacio de doble altura de estilo neobarroco, de 1875. Los techos están decorados con alegorías de la poesía, la pintura, la música y la arquitectura, así como retratos de murcianos ilustres. En las paredes encontramos estucos con alegorías del baile. El suelo es de entarimado taraceado, y cinco arañas de cristal de Bacarat dan luz al salón con sus más de setecientas bombillas.

Some friends recommended me the visit to the Royal Casino of Murcia, and they were really right, it is a very nice place, for its architecture, the elegance of its rooms and halls, and its special atmosphere. I took this photo after the entrance to the building, in the Arabic Courtyard, and here you can admire its decorative style and its richness of shapes and textures. In the background we see one of the corridors with spectacular skylights.
In the WORKSHOP you can see the fantastic skylight that crowns the vault of the Arabic Courtyard (Patio Árabe).

The Royal Casino of Murcia, known habitually as Casino of Murcia, is one of the most emblematic buildings of the capital of the Region of Murcia (Spain). It is in the downtown, in the street Trapería, not far from the cathedral. The building, which construction began in 1847 is a mixture of different artistic currents that coexisted in the second half of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century in Spain and there was declared historical-artistic national monument in 1983, and nowadays is considered a good of cultural interest, with the category of "monument".
The building is the headquarters of the institution of the same name, which works as a private club. Opened to a tourist visit and other events, it is the most visited civil building of the Region of Murcia and they visit it an average of 150 000 persons/year, of whom 25 000 are foreigners.
After a period of increasing deterioration provoked by the crisis of the institution, the building has been deeply restored between the year 2006 and 2009. On the occasion of the ending of the works of restoration, the king Juan Carlos I of Spain granted to the Casino of Murcia the title of Royal.
The front of the Trapería Street, of beginning of the 20th century, is of eclectic style with modernist and historicist influences designed by Pedro Cerdán. On both sides of the principal door there are opened two glazed rooms known popularly by his aspect as aquariums.
Penetrated the door of entry and a small foyer neo-baroque, one accedes to the Arabic Courtyard, with a spectacular decoration of neo-nazarí style, a work of Manuel Castaños. The starry vault that covers the court is the highest part of the building. Another dependence visitable is the library, work of 1913, in which stands out his top platform of wood carved, sustained by brackets of smelting that represent flamingoes, and the thousands of books in ancient book-bindings.
The ladies' dressing-room is decorated by feminine allegories of the goddess Selene painted on the ceiling, whereas the lounge of tea has a spectacular ceiling of stucco, totally recovered after its collapse at the end of the year 1970. The courtyard called Pompeian is of neoclassic style and has in the centre one Venus, a work of Jose Planes, on a pedestal with episodes of Zeus's life.
The most notable large-room of the building is the ballroom, a great space of double height of neo-baroque style, of 1875. The ceilings are decorated by allegories of the poetry, the painting, the music and the architecture, as well as portraits of distinguished people of Murcia. In the walls we find stuccoes with allegories of the dance. The soil is of inlaid parquet floor, and five chandeliers of Baccarat’s crystal give light to the lounge with his more than seven hundred bulbs.
