Photographer's Note

The pretty village of Cadaques, located at the end of pyrennees mountains range is a lovely place full of artisans and tourists. The rocks here were mashed up when the Pyrenees (or Pirineus in Catalan) were formed, and are mostly metamorphic schists which turn a golden colour in the Mediterranean sun.
The place has its own variant or dialect of the Catalan language and due to Cadaqués's proximity to the French border and its isolation by land, the village had a tradition of running contraband.
