Photographer's Note
Hello friends and colleagues, today I offer you a nice view with the light of the afternoon, from the town of San Vicente de la Barquera. I hope you like it, then some letters about the villa.
San Vicente de la Barquera is a municipality in the western coastal region of Cantabria (Spain). It borders the Cantabrian Sea and the municipalities of Valdáliga, Herrerías and Val de San Vicente. Its capital, the town of San Vicente de la Barquera, is closely linked to the sea, as all its traditions, customs and popular festivals demonstrate. Tourism is its main activity due to the great natural beauty and heritage that the area has. 80% of the municipality belongs to the Oyambre Natural Park and enjoys a special protection regulated by the autonomous community of Cantabria as a result of its extraordinary landscape and ecological value.
There is evidence of human settlement since Prehistory. Specifically, vestiges of the Bronze Age have remained, such as the megalithic site of El Barcenal. It is believed that the Cantabrian orgenomescos inhabited here. St. Vincent has been identified with the Portus Vereasueca of the Romans.
In the High Middle Ages, this territory was repopulated by Alfonso I in the middle of the 8th century. The castle then rose, and around it the town grew. The period of economic boom of San Vicente is developed from 1210. On April 3 of that same year Alfonso VIII of Castile granted San Vicente de la Barquera privilege of villazgo, granting him the same jurisdiction as San Sebastian. The last of the «Four Villas of the Coast» -Castro Urdiales (1163), Santander (1187), Laredo (1200) and San Vicente de la Barquera itself- to which Alfonso VIII granted jurisdiction, configuring itself as a royal estate. boom was possible thanks to maritime trade and fishing rights. From 1330 date the first rules of the brotherhood of sailors. However, in the middle of the fifteenth century it went into decline, due to a series of fires and pests. In the sixteenth century, the future King Carlos I of Spain and V of Germany visited the town when he was on his way to the plateau, to be named monarch. On the occasion of his visit a bullfight was prepared. There he fell ill and had to spend the night in the convent of San Luis.
San Vicente de la Barquera was part of the Corregimiento of the Four Villas of the Coast of the Sea and capital of the brotherhood of the Four Villas de la Mar. He participated in the San Miguel Bridge Meetings, intervening in the formation of the Ordinances of the Province of Cantabria (1779).
It was constituted as a constitutional council in 1822. At first, it was part of the judicial district of Comillas. From 1835 he had his own judicial party, but that did not include the area of Liébana, which does occur today.
In April 1973 it was announced that Electra de Viesgo was going to build the Santillán nuclear power plant, with four units and a power of four million kilowatts, whose initial cost was estimated at 80,000 million pesetas. The company acquired 71.6 hectares of land, the equivalent of 71 football fields, in a coastal strip that covers the surface of the municipalities of San Vicente de la Barquera and Val de San Vicente, next to the cove of the beach of La Fuente ; on the cliffs of Santillán-Boria, a ditch was built to carry out the preliminary surveys for the construction of the nuclear power plant in this area. It was scheduled to begin exporting power in 1982, with an output of 970 megawatts. Finally, due to political and social opposition, both from Cantabria and from Asturias, the electric company abandoned the project provisionally.

Bonjour, cher ami Angel,
Une prise de vue ravissante avec ces bateaux éparpillés et colorés sur ce bras d'eau.
La ville semble surveiller l'ensemble.
La mise en image est très réussie.
Amitiés.

Hello Angel,
You captured a very attractive view of the bay full of small boats in a beautiful light. There is what looks like a fine old church on the hill, next to ordinary and quite recent buildings. Those lucky to be living there have a beautiful view from their windows. It's a very nice composition with a pleasant atmosphere and fine colours.
Regards,
Gert

Hello Angel,
A great view across the river, the town looks wonderful and is lit by a great sunlight as well, which created a very pleasant and peaceful mood. The boats scattered around the foreground also make a great addition.

Hello Angel
A beautiful landscape photo with the buildings on the high banks along the river, but also because of the boats that are criss-crossed over the river.
Excellent work

Hello Angel,
A composition that benefits much from the beautiful lights and colours. I like the point of view looking across the peaceful waters of the river with the little boats nicely dotted about. The church on the hill makes a fine focal point. Clarity is exceptional.

Angel, esta foto fue tomada en verano durante el periodo de aguas bajas del rio. Muchos pequeños barcos estan anclados en el rio. Una iglesia fue construida en la colina en el segundo plano. Es una foto muy exitosa.

Hola Angel
Nice repetition of the boats with good reflections and superb sharpness. Well composed using the rule of thirds. The hilltop citadel provides an interesting focal point on the hill. Tfs!

Hola amigo Angel.
Me gusta
Que disfrutes de un buen dia.
Un fuerte abrazo.
Luis.

Hello Angel,
I've the impression this is an early morning or a late evening shot but you took it in the afternoon.
I like the mood and the colours.
The composition is also very attractive with the many boats dotted over the river.
Beautiful hazy background.
