Photographer's Note

This was taken at 1st of June - the Children Day, in the city of Cluj-Napoca. It was a big event for kids downtown, and this two [?] gipsy girls (I say '?' because they might not be both gipsy, or not from two gipsy parents..) were within the crowd of kids, watching a human-puppet show. They're both lovely, and in my oppinion, the one on the rigth has something about the sadness and reality of life already printed in her spirit. As I said yesterday in the 'smiling gipsy girl' photo, they probable live in hard conditions, God knows how they make a living. Still, it gives me a sentiment of hope and trust in a better future. It's not sad at all. And this is what mainly surprises me with this people, especially with the kids - they don't mind the lack of confort, or the warm, clean and 21'st century style (computers, cell phones, cars..) They're quite happy as they are, and this gives them a striking self-esteem and self-trust that you don't see in 'happy' and 'normal' people - who most of the times are sad, unsatisfied, in a hurry..

I'd like to know what lies behind the faces with this kids/social category. Maybe a good photo/social essay theme for the future..

I forgot: I edited the original photo with PS Unsharp 40%/3 radius, and the framing/resize cuts some of the original framing.
