Photographer's Note

Viscri is also known due to the great job in restoring done by the Mihai Eminescu Trust, the foundation patroned by The Prince of Wales. What is less known is that the work and the efforts of the foundation covers not only Viscri, but many other Saxon villages in Transylvania (Crit, Mesendorf, Malancrav, Saschiz).

The village is located in the center of Romania, close to Sighisoara (40km). You have to quit the main road (DN13/E60) in Bunesti, and then a paved road will bring you here (8km).

Hello Daniel,
A very nice capture of those façades, which has many appealing details and a nice pale blue colour. The light was perfect too and well exposed. I like the tight framing.

Hello Daniel,

I didn't know that the Prince of Wales was involved in restoration work in Romania, though I'm not surprised for he seems passionate about buildings and their history.

This pale blue facade, with imitation pillars and deeper blue decorations is sharply captured on a good compositional angle. The colours are very well saturated.

For me, the black border is a little too wide, dominating the photograph.

Smart choice of a vertical format here and the blue shuttered Windows colour co-ordinate with the blue bench and the blue shadows in the arched doorway. Good sharpness and thanks for sharing.

I also visited this village and enjoyed it. It's a very picturesque place. This photo gives us a good example of the fine details found on many buildings here, as well as the nice colours.

Je crois bien que tu n'avais pas assez de recul pour prendre les toits de cette maison et c'est dommage car le sol n'avait pas grand chose à montrer.

Lets hope these places remain for a long long time indeed.
Lots of history here for sure. So, are people still living in these homes? are they still being used every day, or is it more of an outdoor museum type? excellent light striking the exterior, and I like the pale blues. cheers

Hello Daniel,
In 2005 I visited Viscri. Here you present us one of the very beautiful houses, presumably a farm.
The colour of the facade is very pretty but also other architectural details are very pleasant to look at.
Your chosen frame gives us the impression we're looking through a window.
