Ponte Romana

One of the most charming towns we visited in the Algarve was Tavira. Located on the river Gilão, it used to be an important trading post in Roman and medieval times. The bridge you see here, the Ponte Romana, was built in the 17th century on the foundations of the bridge that was built on the Roman route between Faro and Castro Marim.
