Photographer's Note

The church of Santa Maria dos Olivais, is a temple which was founded in the twelfth century, was the seat of the Order of the Knights Templar in Portugal, having served as teachers Cemetery Temple. Throughout church history was the favorite of the sailors who were to leave for new lands in the Age of Discovery. It has a beautiful Gothic facade and a tower of three levels.
After the end of the Knights Templar, this church became the principal called the Order of Christ, being the central of all the churches in Portugal.

La iglesia de Santa Maria dos Olivais, es un templo cuya fundación se remonta al siglo XII, era sede de la Orden de los Caballeros Templarios de Portugal, habiendo servido como cementerio de los maestros templares. A lo largo de la historia fue la iglesia preferida de los marineros que iban a partir a nuevas tierras en la Era del Descubrimiento. Tiene una hermosa fachada de estilo gótico y una torre de tres niveles.
Despues de que terminó la Orden de los Templarios, esta iglesia se convirtió en la principal de la llamada Orden de Cristo, siendo la central de todas las iglesias de Portugal.
