Yesterday, I had started a new collection of sunrise and sunset pictures.

I hope you enjoy it !

Pavillion of Portugal

The Pavilhão de Portugal of the Expo´98 is situated near the north-east corner of the Molhe (pier) dos Olivais. The span between the building and the river-bank is covered by a balcony held by graceful pillars and forms a lateral porch fixed to the east façade.
This construction, made of concrete, was not assigned any determined use for after the event, so it required a great flexibility and versatility in terms of space, while its representative function demanded a clear and powerful image.

The building, rising on a north-south axis, is formed by two bodies separated by a construction joint.
The first unit is really a great ceremonial square flanked, on the north and south, by two large porticos lined with tiles of different colours, between which an extremely thin blade of concrete draws a curve, like a giant canvas.
The second body is a building of rectangular shape with a basement and two storeys. These three floors «grow» around a patio with earth on the ground, so as to allow trees to be planted.

A complentary body of two floors stands out from a corner of the building, separated from the main construction by a gallery.

Hola Aires, this is one of the most artistic and original photos I've seen this month. I like the blurred people, the lines of the windows and that amazing hue to the sunset. Great spotting and control of shutter speed. TFS, Lisa.

I like the idea and realisation. The geometric shapes, the complementary colors. There is a special mood in this photo that is attractive. I think it might be even more powerful if you'd cropped the bottom and top that completely black to concentrate on the center where there is actually something to look at.

I find the tones in this shot are great,and I also think the play of curved and straight lines always works well in a picture.Good detail the blurred people contrasting with the still and well clearly-defined background.TFS.

Ciao Aires,
un modo diverso di fotografare un'alba :)
Mi piace molto il contrasto cromatico tra il colore magenta del cielo che inizia ad essere illuminato dal sole, con il verde della luce sul tetto.
L'effetto mosso sui due uomini, movimenta piacevolmente la scena, mentre le cabine della funivia, danno una buona dinamicità.

Superbe composition aux couleurs magnifiques et un peu énigmatique. Peut-être me serais-je laissé aller à un recadrage en format carré pour diminuer les zones sombres en haut et en bas?

Hi Aires,

The combination of the traditional sunrise and the green ceiling is surprising and very successful. The development of the green reflection in the floor is also a strong element. I think the picture can do without the two man, but on the other hand they give human size to the picture.

Congrats for the university :) I wouldn't have the guts to do it for a second time.
